Adam and Adrienne's Wedding at Kilshane House by Insight Photography

Real Wedding - Today's bride Adrienne brought some serious style to the altar when she married fianc� Adam in November. She certainly wowed us when we saw these fabulous photos by Insight Photography! In her Jesus Peiro gown, Adrienne swapped vows with Adam under palms and banana trees in the elegant, romantic setting of the conservatory at Kilshane House. We're also loving Adam and Adrienne's unconventional relationship style, from their street-side Christmas proposal to their wacky-but-apt choice of first dance song (and moves!)

We met... at the Galway races in 2005. We had friends in common and bumped into each other at Busker Browns in Galway city.  Adam came up and introduced himself and it turned out our families knew each other as well.  We ended up chatting for the night, met up the next day and from there...

Adam’s first impressions of Adrienne: Cute and chatty, it was obvious from the start we had plenty in common.

Adrienne’s first impression of Adam: I was struck by his confidence (I was really impressed he came up and introduced himself) and his sense of fun.

Our proposal... We live in Dublin but are both from Cork. Adam was at home in Cork the week before Christmas 2011. On Wednesday, the day I was finishing work for the holidays, he rang to say he would be back up to Dublin for a meeting and suggested we go for dinner that night. To be honest, an engagement was on the cards but I was convinced it would take place over Christmas or the New Year down at home and certainly wasn’t expecting a proposal midweek in Dublin! On the walk to the restaurant I noticed he was pretty quiet but put it down to a busy week when before I knew it, on the side of the street, next to a traffic light (!) he was down on one knee asking me to marry him. I was taken totally by surprise (which was the whole point) but when it finally dawned on me what was happening, I of course said yes!

Our ceremony... was a civil ceremony held in the Conservatory in Kilshane House. My family in particular, were a little concerned about the solemnity of a civil ceremony but they needn’t have worried. Our registrar, Mary Claire Heffernan, was amazing, the music and readings worked really well together and we had a wonderful ceremony in the most beautiful of venues.

My favourite part of the wedding day...The ceremony was particularly special as was our first dance which was to Kool and the Gang’s ‘Celebration’, to which we had spent a few weeks learning a routine to.  We hadn’t told anyone so everyone’s reaction was great to see. 

Our wedding theme/colours... I wanted to keep the colour palette very simple so on choosing a beautiful charcoal grey bridesmaid dress from Amore Bridal in Youghal for my sister, my florist matched it with a lovely dusky pink rose called Coolwater for the bouquets and we decorated the tables with pink gypsophilia.

My dress... I spotted my Jesus Peiro dress in the first wedding magazine I ever bought. I just loved it from the moment I saw it and although I did try on a few other dresses in another boutique, it was always going to be the one.  

My piece of advice for other brides... of course pay attention to the small details but remember the bigger picture, which is that you are marrying the person you love surrounded by your friends and family.
