Cars & Girls
I finally dragged Russell along to his first ever Bridal
Fair last month - the one in the Point and to his surprise,
he actually enjoyed it! We met loads of people we knew there
including my cousin who was an exhibitor there (Illusions
Bridal Design) and fellow B2B’s. The fashion show was
great and Russell has made a decision on his attire for the
“big day” - no white jackets, no top hat
& tails and no short jackets… and definitely not
a cravat!
So that will make life easier for him when we pay a visit
to the dress hire company after Easter.
Not only did he get great fashion advice, he also picked
our transportation for the wedding. We had already viewed
a car in Wicklow, which we liked, but I hadn’t made
a confirmed booking (in fact I was going to do it on the way
home from the Point!). We were strolling around the Point
and saw a pink Cadillac which was amazing - but a little
too OTT for us… and then we saw it - a white stretch
limousine. Russell was itching to see what it looked like
on the inside, so we had a little chat with the owner who
very kindly allowed us to sit in the car & get an idea
of the interior. Well, it was certainly different from my
own car - TV, DVD player, bar, bench seats… Russell
was bowled over and wanted to make a booking. Luckily our
date was available, so we paid a deposit to John Carty of
JC Limousine Hire and an 8 seater white stretch limousine
is ours for the day!
My mum and the bridesmaids were thrilled to hear that they
will be travelling to the church in style but the best man
and the groomsmen are a little put out and want to hitch a
lift from the church to the hotel with us… sorry lads!
Speaking of bridesmaids - the girls have chosen their
dresses and they are on order from Gownsales in the US as
I type. I was finding it very hard to find the colour we wanted
in a readymade dress here and the dressmaker’s quotations
were starting from €250 each so it was getting progressively
more expensive. Thanks to Niamh on WOL and her great feedback
on ordering dresses online, we picked two different Bill Levkoff
dresses, got the measurements for each of the girls and then
I placed the order by email. The three dresses are costing
me less than €400 which is an absolute bargain - they
are due to arrive around Easter time and we all can’t
wait to see them in the flesh!
We’ve also finally decided on our invitations, so a
meeting with the printers is in order so we can get proofs
made up and approved. We designed them ourselves and they
have received the seal of approval from our parents so it’s
full steam ahead!
Take care
Aoife
