| Bought, Booked and Borrowed!
Since my last instalment of Brides Diary, quite a lot has
been achieved in the organisational process of our wedding.
Firstly, my mother has arranged a string quartet to play
in the church for us. This is exactly what I was looking for
and will tie in perfectly with the understated elegance idea
that I’ve got going so far.
Secondly, we took a spin into town during the sales and went
into McDowell’s (The Happy Ring House) and chose our
wedding rings. As I write this, I honestly can’t remember
what the rings look like, as I was all excited at the prospect
and took time deciding but as luck would have it, we didn’t
get to have them on the day. They have to be ordered in, in
our sizes and as such, won’t be available for collection
until late February or early March.
Next on the agenda is the video - and for that we have
chosen John Cook videos. He did the wedding of one of my sisters
and the results from that were brilliant. I’m just hoping
that by spending the money on the video and not on the photos,
we’re doing the right thing. Either way, regardless
of the end result, at the end of the day we will still be
married!
So, going through the list of outstanding items, we’ve
managed to
- Booked the church & priest
- Booked the reception venue
- Decided on the best man and chief bridesmaid
- Decided upon what we want for our wedding rings
- Booked the DJ (the wonderful George Courtney)
- Booked the Videographer
- Booked the music for the church (and hopefully the reception)
- Bought the invites
- Booked my make-up trial and professional “Cosmetic
Technician” - Niamh Fallon for my big day.
- Borrowed a load of ideas from magazines and catalogues
for the style of the big day.
Going by that list, most of the major jobs have been done.
The only “biggie” left is deciding on a colour
scheme and incorporating that into the flowers, the bridesmaid’s
rigout and of course the dress.
THE DRESS!!!!! Aaaaarrrrrggggghhhhh! To be honest, I’m
not the biggest fan of going clothes shopping at the best
of times, and to go through it all again with my mother in
toe is going to be the quickest lesson in diplomacy I’ll
ever learn.
Till the next time,
Lynne
