How long does a girl have to wait?????????

I can sympathise, OP, because I imagined my proposal for a long time before it happened (and we were going out WAY longer than you), but I really think, as other posters have said, that you need to just stop talking about it and let him propose in his own time. It sounds like you're imagining 'getting engaged' as some big event that requires a weekend away and fireworks and so on - in reality he might pop the question on a Tuesday night over a TV dinner, and that could still be the most romantic thing in the world. But it sounds like he might be feeling under pressure now to make it live up to your expectations, and is putting it off for that reason.

TBH I've never really understood the concept of deciding to get engaged but not being engaged immediately - to me they're one and the same thing, the engagement is the decision to get married, and it sounds like you've already made that.

+1 to this. It doesn't honestly matter how he proposes or where he proposes but just that he proposes. Imagine this, Valintines night in rome cuddling up infront of the trevi fountain 4 years togeher with one baby and another on the way. My heart was pounding and he turns to me and said 'that's that seen now, will we head back to the hotel'.
Anyway how it actually happened was two months later we were on a sunday drive and went into a hotel to have lunch and there was a wedding fair on and we kind of wandered in and came out with brochures, budgets and dates. We decided to book a venue 3 weeks later and then a month after that we bought a ring and officially got engaged. I was also very surprised that when I explained to venues why I wasn't wearing a ring they all said that most couples book their venue before they get engaged and alot of them even offer engagement parties in their package.
My point here is that many of the stories of spontaneous proposals with romance and sparks are probably not that glamourous and amazing and being engaged is going to be a major let down for you if you think it is. I was so happy to be engaged because it was a public show of our commitment to each other but I was never in doubt about my hubbys commitment to me an I didnt need an engagement ring to know we were safe in our relationship. Forget about getting engaged and concentrate on being happy with your hubby. hth
