i think if i started i wouldn't know where to stop - to put it mildly my MIL and most of the in-law famly are psycho's - DH has had counselling because of them. I get on ok with them but i keep my distance and keep the chat to small talk as I have seen what they have put DH brother's wife though and other members of the family aswell, they generally leave us alone now so it's not so bad anymore! So NO I do not have a brilliant mother in law but I am coping with it!!!

My MIL is fine in small doses! She lives 2 hours away and we see her every 2 months or so. After a weekend with her, I'm dying to get back home to some peace! O:|

Thankfully, my OH knows what she's like ....... if he couldn't see what she's really like, there would definitely be trouble between us. I don't know if it's old age but she is so condescending when talking to us and comes out with ridiculous comments/ questions in front of other people. At the last family do, my OH had to tell her to F*** Off (and he rarely swears in public, it would take a lot for him to get worked up like that).

MIL's you just have to tolerate them!!!!!! :o0

Mine is recycling a dress for our wedding - not sure how I should feel about this .....thoughts ?

( before anyone asks money is definitely not the reason, she' s a regular size/shape so not particularly difficult to shop for etc )

Don't see the issue tbh. I suggested to mine that she wear the dress she wore last year for OH's sister's wedding. It's a lovely dress and it's a chance to get more use out of it. She went for something else in the end but I don't see why it would be a problem.

I don't have a great relationship with my own mother - so I think I get on fantastically well with my MIL. Saying that though, she is 3 hours away on a plane.... maybe it helps she lives in a different country with English not being the first language!!
