Anyones family not happy about the marriage?

Mari yay - Hope it doesn't have to come to that for me!

Eleanor - Thanks, it's nice to know there are others in the same position as me. I just dont understand when parents get along with the OH, see he's a good guy, but are still upset to see us getting married? I don't know.

I honestly don't think she'll change her mind about me being too young, but the other day I asked her to shut up about it, so hopefully she will. But i'll have a nagging in my mind knowing she doesn't approve.

Well maybe it will be a driver for us to work on our marriage if we ever have problems. No way I'm gonna prove her right on this one! :o0

I got engaged at 23 and will be married at 24. My Mam was saying "God, you're very young, would you not wait a few years." My family do love my OH but I think my mother just still thinks of me as her baby. Then I asked her what age she was when she got married and she said 24! :ooh Pot...kettle...black!
In recent years people seem to be waiting until very late to get married but my motto would be, if you are madly in love then why wait?!
I am sure your mother will get her head around it. I think it is a real case of parents not wanting their children to grow up and become independent of them!
There isn't a massive age difference between you both so I am sure all will work out! Everyone knows it takes a lot longer for men to mature so you will be marrying a 30 year old but who will probably be at the same level of maturity as you!

Ha that's definitely true on the maturity front nifty! Yeah I think my parents were married at 24 as well! They started having kids straight away though, and I think maybe she wishes they waited a bit..

Ah yeah hopefully she'll come round. Until then, I'll not share my plans!

My family weren't always so keen! When I was 19 he was banned from my house for a full year! :o0

All the best with it though, I'm sure they'll come around and when you're married and living your happily ever after the age difference will seem like a minute detail! :thnk

Ah thank Eleanor I hope so. Just had a look at your blog. Already looks like something I can really relate to - especially the complete lack of productivity now wedding planning has come into the equation! Bookmarked!

When you said age gap I thought it would be something massive.... I see nothing wrong
with an 8 year difference you are almost the same age as my brothers fiance and he's 32 this year. Her parents never even mentioned his age. My grandad was 14 years older then my gran!

Blunt as this maybe your mam needs to cop on, your her daughter and have chosen this
guy as your life long partner she should be over the moon for you not raining on your parade. I'd be having serious words with her if I were you.

Enjoy your planning and don't mind what anyone else thinks or says.

Less than two weeks to go and we still don't know if MIL and SIL are coming, to put it mildly they hate me, we're still trying to figure out why. I haven't seen or spoken to either since Christmas eve. H2B was summoned to see her 3 weeks ago as she wanted to give him wedding presents as they were getting in her way. He got a card from each of them and I say he as my name wasn't on either. I got so upset and he was so angry. Neither of us want them there but MIL is in her 70's and this is her baby all 32 years of him getting married.
We only decided at Christmas to get married, its been plain sailing all the way so much fun except for two massive thorns in our side O:|
