Can't cope with inlaws

As I've said I can't take them anymore. Some of you have probably read my other posts regarding them. Hubbie has cut them out of our lives to avoid all their rubbish and the stress. Even though we do not contact them etc. they are like stalkers sending random texts to my hubbie out of no where and about nothing. His sister in law rang him and left a voicemail for him to ring her, why can't they get the message.
Every night I go to bed and I wish that we all could get on but no matter what we have tried they never change their mean hurtful ways. I feel so bad for my hubbie he deserves better than them and it breaks my heart when he tells me that he considers my family more his family than his own.
I suppose what I want to ask is those of you who have troublesome in laws how do you cope and not go crazy?

we are in pretty much the same position and are also on no talking terms with the inlaws! DH went through hell with them but once he made the decision to cut them out of his life it was like a big weight had being lifted and he is much happier now which makes me happier! I have a wonderful family and they love DH and if he needs a 'mammy' chat he just pops into mine for a cuppa etc! I am grateful to have them and the in-laws can go and make someone else misserable - we just had enough! Just stick to your guns and ignore their calls/texts (or block them) or tell them you are just not interested anymore and get on with your own lives - you'll be much happier, we certainly are!

My mom was in the same situation with her Out-laws for years. Things came to a head for our wedding when after much insisting / dictating who should be invited - we invited 23 of the aunts, uncles and cousins only for 6 of them to turn up on the day. Not that we were bothered in the slighted - although we really felt bad for my Dad that they would do this to him. Whats was worse is they couldnt even come up with an excuse as to why they couldnt come and stick to it. Depending on who you asked, the excuse changed.

As my Dad says "some people are just odd" :action34 . He rarely bothers to speak to them now, which for some reason drives them mad - cue many phone calls and text from them asking if everything ok, which he ignores and they get more bothered :o0

My advice based on 30 years of my moms experience - you've tried, and and as long as your OH is happy not to have much to do with them, go about your own lives together and with your family and let them do the same. You will be a lot happier and stressfree in the long run.

Thanks ladies, I guess i'm just at breaking point at the moment but I'm trying to be strong and ignore them. Again thanks for the supportive advice. :thnk
