just condoms...

Hi there

I'm coming off the pill in a few days (when I'm finished this pack) just because I need to feel better and my sex drive has gone out the window. I'm just wondering if anybody out there just uses condoms as a method of contraception and are they effective. The reason I ask is my H2B is freaked that I might get pregnant (neither of us are ready for that just yet). Am we worrying unnecessarily? Just need some reassurance really.

Hiya,
I came off it last year for the year. I was on it for years and decided to give my body a break but the main reason was that my sex drive wasn't like it used to be. A lot of my friends have found this when they were on the pill for years. We just used condoms last year. And to be honest we were at it like rabbits, my sex drive was back to normal.
We had to problems anyway just using condoms. Hubbie (H2B at the time) was delighted as he was getting it at least once a day!!!

thanx for that Honey, to be honest I don't know why I'm so freaked about coming off the pill seeing as I only went on the pill when I met H2B & I was in only one other long term relationship before that and I always used condoms without any problems. I guess it's because we are now getting married I don't want any hitches along the way if you know what I mean.

Hi septbride07...I came off the pill in Jan as I wanted to do the same and give my body a break. I was on it for 6 years without a break. For the past couple of months I have been trying to concieve but no luck yet. Will know by Monday next if this time has been successful. If not we will wait until after the wedding next september.

Other than that we have used condoms and never found any problems - just the type...H2B is fussy cause of feeling and sensation...I think the durex red box (pleasure or something like that) are the ones he prefers...

Also, my cycle was clockwork (to the hour) when I was on the pill and when I came off it I was 4 days late the first month and 3 days late the next month...since then I have been bang on 28 days. The first month I did a pregnancy test as panicked so much. I had no sooner tested than I got the Flip thing!

As for my sex drive....horndog!!! :lol: :lol: Sex nearly every night!! I swear!! :D

We just use condoms mainly and have done for most of our realionship - its been ten years - and never have had issues.
I have been on the pill on and off but i didn't like it because of weight gain and sex drive going to pot. I found one that agreed with me but I didn't like the idea of being on the pill long term.

I'm with my fella 6 years now. Went on the pill at the beginning and then got a flu and got pregnant on the pill :shock: .

We have a beautiful son now (3years old) but never went back on anything after that. Use condoms since that and have had no problems. (touching wood!) The pill defo did not work out for us! :lol:

Really I'm actually getting frustrated at myself lately for my lack of interest in sex and my h2b hasn't been too happy about it for quite a while. So really doing it for both my own sanity and our relationship. However Chicken Licken as you just pointed out about your cycle being a bit late for the first two months that's exactly what I'm dreading that first initial thought of 'oops could I be'!!!!

Yep, I can't wait to come off the pill - sex drive, what sex drive :oops: . Going to wait until after the wedding coz I've been on it so long god only knows what effect coming off it will have on me :?
Afer that it'll be condoms all the way (except when we're ttc) and my god will we be using a lot of them :lol: :lol: :lol:

Oh God I'm hoping that I'll be giving my system enough time to settle down by coming off the pill now. I don't want spots etc for my big day. Although spots might be the least of my worries heres hoping I don't turn in to a complete nutter and kill my H2B as God knows what way my hormones are gonna react!!!!

Yep we just use condoms, have been doing so for bout the last 2 years and no problems at all, touch wood. I was on the pill aswell, for ages, about 6 years I think? But basically it just got too expensive! Paying doc 50 quid every 6 months, and then paying for the pill, and we used condoms always aswell anyway. So just gave up on the pill and so far so good

I had to come off the pill for medical reasons, we've been just using condoms for over a year and so far, so good! Like the nicotine patches though... requires willpower :D

Septbride07 - yes, I tried the Pill a few times and it turned me into a monster, so have been using condoms for the last 2 years. And funny enough, I suggested to H2B about trying something else (like the cap), and he said no! Usually guys love the idea of doing it without a condom - but my guy is a stickler for tradition! And also condoms do help a guy last longer so its good for us! :wink:

We only use condoms, and only during my fertile time of the month (plus a couple of days either side, to be extra safe :wink: ). The rest of the month, we use nothing at all.

We've been doing this for years and years, and have had no problems so far!
