That's great Billyjack Bride! I also had a nice surprise with my son (now 3!)... isn't it the best! :D

I was also on that Injection before - it should be banned. It really does has severe side effects. I thought it was just me going crazy until I talked to my friends about it at the time. Took 16 months for my cycle to come back.

Eh, i don't think so. Where did you hear this? Data from the world health organisation:

Condoms are the only contraceptive method proven to reduce the risk of all sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV. They can be used as a dual-purpose method, both for prevention of pregnancy and protection against STIs.

Prevention of pregnancy

Estimated pregnancy rates during perfect use of condoms, that is for those who report using the method exactly as it should be used (correctly) and at every act of intercourse (consistently), is 3 percent at 12 months.

The most frequently cited condom effectiveness rate is for typical use, which includes perfect and imperfect use (i.e. not used at every act of intercourse, or used incorrectly). The pregnancy rate during typical use can be much higher (10-14%) than for perfect use, but this is due primarily to inconsistent and incorrect use, not to condom failure. Condom failure – the device breaking or slipping off completely during intercourse – is uncommon.

So if you use condoms correctly, they are 97% effective. True the pill is more effective, 99%-100%, but again, only if used correctly. Also condoms protect you from STD's, and have very,very few side affects if any.

Some of methods of birth control less reliable than condoms include spermicides (71-85%), diaphragm (84-94%) and the female condom (79-95%).

Jelly Babies is how me and my sis refer to our babies, sounds much nicer than 'condom baby' or 'rubber baby'.

Used condoms alone for 6 years, no babies. Use them properly and you're fine.
Would never, ever use any kind of pill or implant again.
Learned the hard way that fooking with your hormones is not a good idea.

hi lois, i no excatly wot u talking about, i had nothing but side effects from hormonal contraceptives and am looking for an alternative, reassuring to hear condoms r working for some peep.

DB, I was on the injection for 2 yrs before and had pretty much no problems with it, except maybe for a week or two after a new injection i felt a bit depressed,now whether that was my imagination or not i dunno. the only thing is i didnt get periods on it, i know when your on the pill its not a true
period anyway but some people still like to get them. aside from that ive heard a few people took ages to get their period when they came off it.

to the OP, i use condoms after recently coming off the pill and have no probs, if your h2b is a bit nervous remember you can get the MAP if you have any accidents

We've only ever used condoms & never any problems!! I don't like taking meds unless I absolutely have to hence why I don't take pill. We use condoms all of the time, not just when I think I'm at my most fertile!

Hi

I changed the pill i was on about 2 years ago as i was always on the verge of tears. When i mentioned it to the doctor, he looked up his book and recommended Yasmin for me.
The girl i live with mentioned she was feeling very hormonal all the time, i told her to talk to doc and now she's on the same as me. No side affects and we both feel much better now.
Just wanted to let you know my experience. you can take what you want from it. My H2B doesn't like condons so thats why i'l be staying on pill.

Used to be on the pill and it really made me a hormonal mess. I do suffer from bad PMS but the pill made it ten times worse.
Use just condoms now and working well. As the wedding is getting closer, I use an online calendar to try figure out my fertile days and don't dtd around this time

We have only ever used condoms in the ten years we have been together !
I did go on the pill a few months before the wedding so that I could alter my period date (as I would have been due on the wedding day) - but we still used condoms during that time as I have ulcerative colitis - if I was sick while being on the pill, then the pill would not have worked.

Anyway, we have never had any problems using them -they are the one form of contraception that I would actually have faith in. As another poster previously said, at least you know if the condom bursts, whereas with the pill you will not know if it's worked or not until its too late!

oh I hate condoms- just dont like the feel of them near me at all. They are (IMO) a bit of a mood kill.

Was on the pill until over a year ago and now we use nothing.

I would love to come off the pill, i've been on it about 5 years but were getting married in May so I don't know if I should risk coming of it yet incase it messes me up before the wedding!
