I would love to come off the pill, i've been on it about 5 years but were getting married in May so I don't know if I should risk coming of it yet incase it messes me up before the wedding!

DH and i have been together for 10 years and i cam eoff the pill just after our wedding. We started going out in our teens and I was TERRIFIED of becoming PG didnt trust condoms. Had the implant for a while but it caused an ovarian cyst. Yasmin worked well for a while and my skin was great but my sex drive went to pot so much so that I couldnt wait to come off it. early no point bein on the pill i wanted to DTD son little!

Now we use a mixture of condoms, (DH not a huge fan) diphraghm and sometimes nothing if I know Im not in a fertile time.

Feel much better bein off any hormonal methods and my cycle settled quickly which i didnt expect as I was never regular before. (skin went v greasy for a while) Diaphragm is workin well so far, can be messy with the spermacidal gel and only now getting really comfortable with it. If I dont hav it in before bed I wouldnt ruin the moment and get out to insert it (sorry TMI!) thats when we would use condoms or nout depending on cycle. I wouldnt trust it 100% sometimes Im not sure its in just right bt then If I did fall pregnant it wouldnt be the end of the world we hope to start trying in a year or so anyway.

I do agree with the poster that mentioned folic acid...it is sensible to take some form if you ever take chances even if you think you're not fertile. I dont take specific Folic Acid supplements, but I do take a daily vitamin supplement that contains the RDA of folic acid for those trying to conceive...just in case. Would want to help babs as much as possible.

I have one month left and dont really want to go back to the doctor to get another 6month prescription because myself and the oh have been thinking of trying for a baby after the wedding so that would be a waste of money.

Just wondering if I should skip it for this month and then take it for the month of the wedding just so that I can make sure my friends steer clear for the big day!!! or i wonder would coming of it for a month mess things up to much??

What an interesting topic. I didn't realise that some people were so distrustful of condoms. have used them for years without cause for concern.

I'm on Yasmine, talk about a mood killer. I'm afraid to change after hearing so many horror stories about weight gain etc on other pills. Can anyone suggest another 'nice' pill to try?

I always went with Microlite as it suited me, never had a problem with it. It's quite a low dose so often given as a first pill. I do think different pills suit different people so it's well worth trying another

The first and only time I was on the pill was Microlite and it was awful. Have been using condoms for 7 years with HTB and we've never had a scare.

we just used condoms for 5 years without any problems. the first time we didn't use them i got pregnant :eek

so they must have been pretty effective the rest of the time!

We've been using them for nearly 12 years and so far I haven't had to find out how much anything from Mothercare or Mamas & Papas will set me back. I mentioned about getting a tubal ligation done as DH and I don't want children (sorry folks) but he was horrified at that and was happy to continue using condoms. Probably afraid that a TL would have terrible side effects.

If you're absolutely sure that you don't want children, then a TL is the way to go. There are no side effects and life carries on happily with no worries. HAPPY DAYS.

Glad i found this thread!! I had to come off my pill a few weeks ago to get an operation and I am loving being off it! Skin is glowing im in GREAT form everyone keeps asking me whats wrong :o0

and i cannot get enough of H2B hes a bit afraid of me now :o0

Wedding is in 4 months don't know what to do, we have just been using condoms but seriously considering not going back on my pill. I have been on it for 11 years.
I was considering the implant as i have slightly high blood pressure and the doc reccomended it but im terrified that i wont know its working until its too late. My sister said she knows a few people who had it and got it taken out 2 months later becuase they piled on weight. is anyone else using the implant and had these side effects?
We don't want any babies for a few years at least

After numerous problems on the pill and aware that I had been on it for years, I decided to come off it last year. No babies yet anyway using just condoms. Aren't they 98% effective? I always assumed that if the condom didn't break, your plain sailing...not sure though.

Carriedaway I would not recommend the implant! I had it before against my GPs advice as I was terrible at taking the pill. I didn't get a period for about 6 weeks, then it came and I had bleeding/spotting pretty much non-stop for a year until I had it taken out. Sorry if that's TMI

but I wouldn't want you to be in this situation for your honeymoon!

I was on a holiday in the carribbean and it was terrible! Also, putting in the implant is okay, but taking it out is hell. Few GPs want to do it. I needed a few stitches when it finally was out. Don't do it!

I have been using condoms for a while and no problems, sex drive was great, but I went back on the pill because I just can't take the risk (up to 10% get pregnant using condoms every year). It depends how much risk you are happy with. Like if you did get pregnant in the year, would it be a huge problem? If you don't want the risk maybe you could try a lower dose pill??

omg i thought i was just a lazy fecker....

Im on pill this last 4 and 1/2 years my sex drive has got worse and worse...

I feel terrible but i only dtd once a week with h2b....

I really feel terrible but i really couldnt be assed..... god i sound like the worst w2b ever!!!! :o(

Wonder would coming off pill help me????
