Has anyone stayed in any of these and could recommend :

The sanctuary
The Empire
The grand fitzpatrick

Any advice would be great

I haven't stayed in any of those hotels but I'd highly recommend either the Marriott Marqus or The Affinia Shelburne! Both are FAB!!!

I would highly recommend the beacon hotel up by central park,

The rooms are very spacious and modern and you will get a good deal via travelrepublic.ie....book the hotel and flight separate and don't go through an agent as you will be fleeced.

I stayed in both Fitzpatrick hotels. We both prefered the one on Lexington Ave. Rooms were bigger. Fitzpatrick Grand Central on the otherhand had a really good bar. Food was very good in both. Rooms in both were of a good standard, but found the Grand Central room to be smaller.
The Sheraton is another good hotel. We also go for a club room when we stay.
Rooms do tend to be small in new york hotels, but there is so much to do in New York that you won't be spending too much time in them.
