The most popular time to get engaged is during the winter months -26% of men pop the question in December.
Summer is the most popular season to get married, with 44% of couples hoping for a summer sunshine wedding, followed by spring and autumn (both 22%) and finally winter (12%).
18% of couples have opted for a civil ceremony rather than a church wedding.
The average spend for a wedding is approximately €20K.
The average cost of a wedding meal per head is €40-€60.
The average number of guests at a wedding is 100-150.
The Honeymoon
96% of couples went on honeymoon.
The average budget for a honeymoon is just under 5k.
Average duration of the honeymoon is just over two weeks.
The top three honeymoon destinations are Spain (29%), Portugal (19%) and Italy (18%).
