Civil Ceremony

Hi all

Me and my partner want to get married in 2014, but first before we set any dates etc we want to try and find out how much, roughly, the wedding will cost as we dont want to start and then realise we cant afford it :o(

At the moment I havent called any venues so all my research is internet only. We are interested in a civil ceremony. I'm looking on a few hotel websites and they have "wedding packages" would these prices be the same for a civil ceremony? I'm assuming these are for the reception only packages...The civil ceremony section doesnt seem to have prices..Can anyone shed any light as I dont want to start calling venues as I know they'll be telling me to come in and see the rooms etc when I'm just looking for very rough prices at the moment....if possible!!!

Probably not what you want to hear but it depends on the venue. Some venues charge for holding a civil ceremony on site and others don't.
One venue we looked at charges a €500 turnaround fee for having a civil ceremony there.
The venue we booked don't charge anything extra and in fact we are using a second room for the afters and they're not charging anything extra at all for that.

What i did was e-mail venues and asked them to send me out their wedding brochure and asked then if there was an extra charge for holding a civil ceremony in the hotel. All hotels e-mailed it to me and didn't pressure me to come see the hotel, just that if I had any other questions to let them know and if I wanted to arrange a viewing I could contact the wedding coordinator.
Might be easier than ringing if you're worried about getting pressure to view the hotel?

Bloomfield house hotel. Loved their small room so we decided to go from 120+ guests to 30-40 just to have it!
