I went to a wedding in rome in 2003 and it was AMAZING. I know the girl who got married and she has been organising weddings since then. Her website is irishweddingsrome.com.

Congratulations! I'm getting married in Rome in June 2005. We're getting married in the Irish College Church. Reception yet to be decided.

To keep it brief, there are three main churches used by the Irish; The Irish College Church, St Patricks, and San Silvestro.

The Quirinale is recommended a lot on WOL. I also like the Hotel Capo d'Africa (expensive but v. nice and very close to the Irish College).

I would recommend, if you can at all get over to Rome beforehand to check things out. What's other people's taste, may not be yours. Also, don't trust an accomodation list without checking it. The Irish College gave us a list and to be honest, there were only three worth considering, we had to forget about the rest as they were awful.

The churches are generally very helpful with e.g. flowers, restaurant recommendations and photographers. The hotels will usually help with hairdressers and beauticians and transport etc.

Also, a tip from the priest at St. Patrick's was to speak to Newbridge Travel, not Curragh Travel in Newbridge. Apparently the guy to deal with left Curragh Travel to set up on his own in Newbridge Travel. Should give some good ideas.

Was at a wedding in Rome in March - we had a great time but just one huge warning BEWARE of PICKPOCKETS 3 guests were robbed on day of wedding making thier way back to the hotel on the underground take a taxi it is actually cheaper than the underground as long as it is not too far and that there is 4 in taxi

Congrats and welcome to the Rome '05 list!!

There are so many ways to have your wedding in Rome and I think you're already on a winner being here using the site. Searches will give you so much info. to get you thinking and investigating. If you are brave and organised, it can all be done without any help from a tour operator, if you preferred. Rome brides and Rome brides to be who have been out on inspection trips are all very good to share info.
