oh my god! ever since I turned 30, people have been bothering me.
apparently once you're that age, your womb is public property and people think it's appropriate to comment on your parental status ALL THE TIME!!! I've actually been quite short with people over this. a) it's none of their business b) not everyone wants kids c) infertility is on the increase in all western countries, and it's presumptious and possibly upsetting to presume that everyone can have children
schratt,
It totally agree with you, I turned 30 this year and of course now the concensus is that we are getting married so we can have children straight away. Its such a sensitive topic for a couple as who knows what their circumstances are. Its like a broken record with my future inlaws so I am sure they will be checking out my tummy after the honeymoon !
My mother is the worst for this, she never stops, and its normally in front of H2B, she's constantly saying 'ah look he's brilliant with kids he's dying for one', Yes H2B is brilliant with children, we both love them and have our small cousins over as much as we can, we also love to see them leave  The thing is that I have PCOS my mother knows this but it doesn't have any impact on her comments which really get to me. Plus I'm only 23, hello woman give me a break.
Ive a pain in my arse with people asking us when we are going to have kids, The day we came back from honeymoon my mother asked me was there any chance we might be having a honeymoon baby and only last week and im not joking one bit when i say this: my mother in law rang the house to ask me was i still taking the pill  I nearly died :!:

Oh my God Mrs Summer - mortified or what !
Gez I think its a mother thing to have absolutely no tact about these things. Thank God my Mother has told me to take my time and not be in a rush to have children and enjoy being married for a while first ![]()
People seem to think we have nothing better to be doing only start having babies the minute we come back from honeymoon! Im getting really p***ed off with it now. Only last week we were talking about going on hols next year with my mum, dad, sis, bro, his girlfriend and baby. It all sounded fine and dandy til i heard afterwards that my dad had asked my mum would I be ok to travel next summer cos Id be pregnant!!!!    :!: :!:
I mean, come on! Give us a chance like!! When I questioned my dad on it he said "well you'd want to get a move on, your body clock is ticking"!! Im only 26, Ill be 27 just after christmas but I dont think Im running out of time!! Id like to have about 18-24 months after the wedding to enjoy the honeymoon period before we start. Yes we were asked and since we are married its worse.I think its such a personal question and i would never dream of asking anyone it.
If my MIL asks me again i swear to god...last week she said "when are you going to have your family,is it Lady Muck thats stopping you" I of course didnt answer because i was afraid of what i say, every time i see her she asks....She also said to me the week after the wedding when are you having kids, sure thats WHY people get married.I know its part of it to start a family but not the only reason.SIL also said when are you going to have kids and i responded saying im only 26 when it happens(didnt want to imply when)to which her reply was "well you dont want to be 40 do you" Its none of anyones god damn business....grrrrr so rude
Mrs05 your MIL could be my mother, her words exactly 'sure whats the point in getting married, only to have children'. I know she's dying to be a granny and her and Dad would be brilliant but they're gonna have to get over it, I want to enjoy my life and get all the things I want to do done, so I'll have no regrets and can devote myself to rearing our children. By the time my youngest brother is 18 my parents will have been rearing children for 30 years  I'd rather have them closer together.
I didn't even make it out the door of the church before comment was passed. At the receiving line my heavily pregnant friend came over to congratulate us. Quick as a flash MIL was over, asking when she was due. Then MIL says "hopefully next year we will be expecting our own happy event" I just replied could you not let me enjoy the day before the pressure started  At least I knew what to expect as my SIL keeps telling me shes mad for a grandchild...I wonder will she be so keen to mind it and have chocolate handmarks on her beautiful cream sofas
Grrrrrrr! I know the feeling. I keep on getting this from a 27 year old guy at work!!! It's so inappropriate. He insists that I must be getting married in order to have children. Excuse me, but if I want a child, I'll have one regardless of whether or not I'm married!
He won't listen when I tell him that I'm not neccessarily getting married to have children but he won't let up. He is so rude. There are plenty of couples out there who can't have children and I would hate to think that they would be faced with having to explain this to anyone, let alone a work colleague. Why are people so insensitive and overly personal? Did I mention....... Grrrrrrrr  ????

Maybe next time he pokes his nose in, tell him that you're 'having problems in that area'. See how he likes that for size! (No offence meant whatsoever to anyone on the this board that IS having problems conceiving) it's just people like that (who should know better but don't stop to use the God given brain they've got to figure that out) annoy me  Try not to take too much notice of all the questions girls. If it's going to happen, it'll happen....... but all in it's own good time
My little sister has gotten over the excitement of the first wedding in the family and that she is going to be a bridesmaid. She has now moved onto picking out baby clothes when we are in a shop. She is only 13 so I suppose I can't really give out. My mam told me I wasn't getting any younger the other day and that I should think about having kid straight after we get married. The joys of family.......
I know I can beat that!
We're not even married yet, engaged for 2 and a half years at this stage and H2B's grandmother, grandaunt and mother and father want to know when we are going to start trying for a child. BEFORE we get married. We're not even past 30 either (I'm 27 and h2b is only 26). Grrrrrr
