We've budgeted €12k for ours excluding the honeymoon n my dress which I'm paying out of my own overtime n not our joint wedding savings. We've got family doing photos, flowers, ceremony music, make up n we're not having a wedding car (having a civil ceremony in the hotel n im staying the night b4). We're having 80 people for a sit down meal plus extras like after ceremony/evening nibbles. If you search around and get family to help out its easier to keep the costs down. I hate to think when we'd be able to afford to get married if we had to pay for photos n flowers!

Also by the time we get married will have been engaged over two years. We're quite young n he didn't want to rush into the wedding. Really loving being engaged, it's given us time to work out a few relationship hiccups, talk about baby's etc and save money! It's tough but we're on course to have it all paid up front by the day! yay! :compress

I clicked €10-€15 thousand

I'm getting married on a Wednesday its half the price since i would class my venue as expensive for a country house.

But its my fairytale :)

I'll have 80 at the sit down meal with cocktails , sandwiches, crepes, scones , chocolate fountain and a candy buffet for the arrival and a further 100 in the evening

I am hoping to get my Caribbean cruise honeymoon out of this, but the prices keep on creeping up

our budget is 12k even though our budget started at 10k and we have pulled the purse strings in every way we can with out loosing what we want to have on the day, we are having 115 guest inc children, I am making the flowers eg fake ones thats including my bouquet and 2 bridesmaids, button holes, and unity candle stand and we are just having pew ends, im not big on flowers any way, we are having a marks and spencers cake, just one car for me and H2B and using friends cars for bridesmaids/grooms men, we have cut our bridal party from 8 to 4, instead of the sweet cart i want i am doing a sweet table my self, alot of our wedding will be done by my self in a way i don't mind because at least i will feel i have put all my personality into it, we are not including honeymoon in that as we simply wont be able to afford it until after the big day, we booked our wedding last year and kept putting saving on the back burner as there was always some thing else to pay for i wish now we had of been wise, i think sticking to one budget definitely helps and not pushing it after all the most important part of the day is when you are standing at the alter exchanging vows not how many tiers are on your cake or how fancy your wedding car is, marriage is for life not just for one day :xox

Hey all,

Just wondering what people are paying for wedding receptions?

Have been looking at hotels in Kerry and have found most of the really nice ones are over 20K.

Is this the norm???

It depends how many heads your paying for and at what rate. Our deal is 49.95 a head but for a toast which we probably will add is an additional 6euro pp. What are you looking at per head and what is your invite list like to start with. This is the biggest cost for the whole day , obviously.

We're running good at 145 guests for €9k though I've not included the hen/ stag or honeymoon in that figure as neither hen nor stag will cost much more than a normal night's drinking and any honeymoon will entirely depend on how we stand after the wedding (i.e. we'll wait a few months).
