Just wondering how much is reasonable to pay for a string quartet for the ceremony only? I don't really want to pay a fortune for it but I love the thought of having the classical music playing.

Any ideas??

i recently got quotes for a string quartet advertised on this site. It was for a corperate event thou, not a wedding. Have to say, they were excellent.

Was quoted (a) €500 for 1 h drinks reception, (b) €600 for 90 min drinks reception, (c) €700 for 1 hour drinks recpetion and 1 hour dinner entertainment.

It would be interesting to see if the quotes skyrocket once the word "wedding" is mentioned!

We were quoted from 630 to over 700 for the ceremony. In the end we booked a string trio - two violins and one cello its costing 485. I just couldn't justify spending over 500 for church music especially when there are sections where no music will be played. Our string trio will arrive at the church half an hour before the ceremony and play while our guests are arriving.

Whereabouts in the country are you? That's exactly what I'm looking for and that's the cheapest quote I've heard so far.

Hi there,

I think a lot of the String Quartets charge in the region of €600-650 upwards for the ceremony. If you have the budget for a quartet, I agree that they can be a nice addition.

If your budget doesn't stretch that far and you would still like some classical music at the church, I can offer a similar musical sound at much less of a price. I accompany myself on piano/keyboard and integrate nice full string sounds for some of the classical pieces.

Here are some recorded samples (played by myself on keyboard):
Pachabel's Canon
Air On G String
Bitter Sweet Symphony

If it sounds like something that might interest you, I'd be happy to give you a quote!
All the best :)
Keith.
