Hey LTY... I have my dress since APRIL!!! I am going in next month for my measurements cos they reckon you should give about 9 months notice for the dress to be made and then all the alterations to be done.

I reckon you should at least start looking!!!!!!

Ive appointments made for early nov - i went looking during the summer and know what style suits etc so hoping to go looking in nov and order it then! Im really keen on one dress in particular that I tried on so hopefully everyone else will like it on me too!! Ive lost a bit of weight since I tried it on too so hopefully it'll look as nice. Most shops told me to order by late nov/december so hopefully ill find one quick enough!!

I suppose once you know what suits then thats half the battle. I was dreading going shopping for the dress, but I tried it on and just fell in love with it. I know that if I had of kept looking I would have just went back to the original one!

Just ordered my wedding shoes so I have them in time for when I have to go in to get measured. I love the irregualar choice ones, but felt I wanted something a little more glamorous so I went for Benjamin Adams Bridget and they were on sale so I got a bargain on them! Just hope they fit now!!!

Cant believe we're within a year. We're just in the process of getting a mortgage so once thats all sorted it'll all guns blazing with the wedding planning and spending!!!!

Also, how much does your H2b know about your dress and accessories??? Mine says he doesnt want to know anything which is perfect for me, but have seen other comments on here that B2bs have show their hubbies shoes, jewellery, hairpieces...even pics of the dress!

My sister got married last July and she only went looking in December but actually ordered it the wk before xmas. They say that it takes about 6 months for your dress to come in and then about 2 weeks for alterations. Every dressmaker is different thou! Normally the shop will tell you how long you have.

Hi Girls!

starting to feel super excited now that its officially less than a year away! We wont feel it until xmas and then theres only 7 proper months for most of us!! :o)ll

Got a few more bits sorted now but still havent started looking for the dress!!! Got a burst of impatience on Sat and decided that I urgently needed to get my sweet jars sorted out so jumped into the car and drove to Ikea to buy them (got great jars, most of them were €1.95) , loaded up my trolley with lots of stuff and felt great. Then drove home again and all I could do was pack them away out of sight again!!!! :yelrotflmaosmilie:

Does anybody else feel like you know you should be doing stuff but just dont know what exactly??

Im totally the same with hiding stuff :yelrotflmaosmilie: Think my OH would be abit freaked with stuff like buying sweet jars etc, a year b4 the big day. He spotted lots of pairs of flipflops in bags when I intially bought them and just didnt understand the concept of having them for guests. Think he thought I was abit mad until we went to a wedding afew weeks ago where socks were available for sore feet and when he saw those, he understood alittle lol. Our wedding will be very DIY but it essentially falls to me to get everything together as OH doesnt understand that things have to be bought gradually rather then stressing ourselves out in the few months before. I prefer to pick stuff up as I see it aswel, I just have to quietly ferry it over to my parents house then :P With less then a year to go now, the only thing I am stressing about is the dress.Seriously, I didnt think this would be my one problem. I feel so overwhemed. I do know the style I want though so I hope to have it by the end of the month. Fingers crossed :) Aside from that I have the church, caterer, venue, priest, photographer, videographer, shoes, brooch bouquet, table numbers and table centrepieces. This month I plan to sort my dress, possibly bridemaids too, save the dates, church music and hopefully tablecloths and napkins :) I want to get as much out of the way as I can as I will have a busy time in work in the coming months!

Yay! Less then a year now :)

Pinkunicorn that is hilarious! :o0 In a few months you will do a big reveal and he will be astonished at your organisational skills! :ooh Yeah I am the same, I like to pick things up as I go along and I know the last couple of months will be stressful enough without having to worry about the “little” things. I think as long as we don’t actually buy the sweets for the jars now we will be fine ;o)
I was in one of those € saver type shops the other day and managed to find lots of hats for my DIY photobooth, all floppy hats, cool Stetsons, Bowler hates etc all for under €10! Bargain!! :o)ll

I have no idea where to start with the dress, some days I want a big princess dress because I will never get a chance to wear a dress like that again and then the next day I want something really sleek and elegant! I suppose the only good thing there is that I will be going into the shops with an open-mind (VERY OPEN!! Haha). :hic

What is everyone else working on? Does your H2B realise that some of these things do actually have to start being done now??

I can now remove pre-marriage course off our list! :o)ll Actually wasn't as bad as I thought it would be! Few helpful tips came out of it and lots to think about. But glad it's behind us and can focus on other things like our honeymoon!!!!

I was only talking to my mother last night about the fact that its less than 11 months until our wedding but if you take out December which will be mainly focused on Christmas, and I have a few friends due babies around that time also which will provide a distraction (most welcomed) that the time is really going to fly!

I had planned to take a break and not think about it but I really can't help thinking about ideas and keeping an eye on WOL!!

Going to the Southern Brides wedding fair next week which I am really looking forward to!

Anyone else looking at their honeymoons? Would love to hear where people are thinking of going. We're thinking of an eastern Europe cruise and a week all inclusive somewhere luxurious.
