Discovery Gospel Choir is Ireland’s top intercultural choral group. The choir is based in St George and St Thomas’ Church, in the heart of multicultural Dublin and performs across the country sharing its unique message, ‘Discover beauty in everyone’, through inspirational and diverse Gospel music. DIT Irish Traditional Music Ensemble, directed by Odhrán Ó Casaide, contains some of the finest young musical talent in Ireland today. They have perfomed on Céilí House and have toured worldwide. Irish National Youth Ballet aims to provide young dancers with a flavour of what it might be like to pursue a career in dance. 2012 has been an exciting and ambitious year for INYB: a twenty piece orchestra was assembled to perform live with the company in April. Xplosive is a hip-hop dance group of about 15-20 young dancers. Formed in 2007, they have never looked back. They have wowed crowds in the National Basketball Arena and the Making-a-Difference Festival. The Belvedere College Jazz Band has grown from strength to strength since it was formed in 2010 and was a prize winner at the Wesley Interschools Feis in 2011. The ensemble covers not only traditional standards by Glenn Miller but also the more contemporary works of Herbie Hancock and Jaco Pastorius. The Wesley College Choirs are regular prizewinners at the Interschools music festival and are the current holders of the Alice Yoakley Quirk cup for secondary school mixed voice choirs at the ESB Feis Ceoil. Louis Hemmings has been writing poetry since he was a teenager and his poetry has been published in Poetry Ireland, Hot Press, and Strait. He has also published a number of poetry booklets and won the Padraic Colum/Poetry Ireland memorial award in 1981. Louis has been writing prose since 1980; and his prose has been appeared in a variety of publications such as The Irish Times, New Hibernia, Village, and Hot Press. Catrina Scullion is a sought after soloist. In addition to singing with Opera Ireland and Anna Livia Opera, Catrina has toured extensively with Celtic Woman, and as a soloist with Anúna. She has toured the US, UK, Germany and Holland; and sung on numerous recordings and in media appearances, including The Late Late Show. Ann-Marie Papin has performed with several orchestras, here and abroad. She has also given a number of recitals both in London and Paris and has composed music for short movies and arrangements for contemporary Irish singers. Gráinne Mc Laughlin plays the medieval-style wire-strung harp. She featured in RTE’s series The Raw Bar, contributed sound-track to a TnaG dramatization of Imeacht na nIarlaí, and played on and produced a CD of 17th century music distributed with History Ireland. Gráinne particularly enjoys playing songs from the Donegal gaeltacht.
