3 weeks to go and Mother needs to get new outfit! Help!

Girls,

It always happens I know, there's always a little bump in the road coming up to a wedding but this one is fairly major.
My mother, who is terribly hard on herself to begin with, decided to have her outfit made by a very well known Irish Designer and thought she would be in very safe hands. Anyway, long story short she tried on the outfit today for the firdt time, first fitting sort of thing, and it was awful. The wrong colour, she had wanted a gold lace and it's more of a pewter/silver colour. It does nothing for her shaope. My Mum's a healthy 16 and gorgeous with it. She however is being hard on herself and the fact that she didn't lose as much weight as she wanted for the day. Anyway, the style of this tunic thing does absolutely nothing for her, it adds to her and makes her look frumpy but most important of all, it's just not 'her' iykwim?

I can't have her being unhappy and uncomfortable with what she's wearing on the day, it would ruin it for her and it would kil me in the process!

To add to our problem I love in the UK, so I'm not as much of a help as I would ike to be. I am flying home this weekend though and we're going to do a bit of a blanket bomb in terms of looking for an outfit. In order to utilise our time correctly I'd love to get a list of really good boutiques in the Dublin area.

Any suggestions that you have girls would be very, very welcome.

Personally i would aim straight for dundrum with this problem. Places where you might find an outfit i would think are Harvey Nichols, House of fraser, coast, hobbs, fran and jane, monsoon, gerard darel, mexx, east, marks and spencer, lk bennett, pamela scott, etc There is a lot there and there is a new rental place beside the luas that does mother of the bride. Harvey Nichols and house of fraser do personal shopper

that is not a nice thing to happen especially getting something made!

My mam got her outfit in Nicola Ross in Naas and it was fab. She got her whole outfit plus fascinator within 20 minutes after weeks of us traipsing around shops.
Pamela Scott have some lovely stuff too.

Am getting married in a just over a month and my mam only got her dress on Saturday so tell yours not to panic, There is plenty of time :-) I would go to Dundrum Town Centre. You could maybe book the services of a personal shopper in House or Fraser or the staff in Hobbs are v helpful (thats where my mam got her dress). My mam is also very critical of herself but is very happy with what she picked. Good luck!!!!

Naas and Newbridge are the recommendations from my Mum. There are a few boutiques which do glam MOB!

My mam got her dress for my sisters wedding in Hobbs in London but they have a store in Dundrum. Would recommend them, the girl we dealt with was so brilliant,

Arnotts have a few nice pieces in at the moment, I was in trying to see if there was anything for my mam. Clearys and Brown Thomas also have some outfits. Vanity Fair is one of the shops in Newbridge, it's in the Court Yard which is right beside Whitewater, they have really nice mother of the bride outfits. Good luck!

My mum has gotten outfits in jacques verts concession in Debenhams. Best of luck and hope she gets sorted.

Thanks a million for all your replies girls, it really is a great help.

Fingers crossed we'll get something she's happy and confident in. Think she'll end up going for her old reliable black now-she's never out of that bloody colour. But that's ok isn't it? Or will she be committing some unspoken Mother-of-the-Bride faxu pas??

On the northside, the Village Shop Raheny (http://www.villageshopdublin.com/) and The Clothes Peg in sutton (http://www.clothespeg.ie/) are good, my mam found them very helpful.

if it were me I'd go to to a boutique that does MOTB type outfits for women your moms age . You could walk around a large shopping centre or department store for hours and get nowhere . If you are going to one of the big stores definitely book some help , someone who can out her in the dressing room and just get her into things , good luck !

Just saw your post. Don't know if its too late but some of our gang got our outfits in Occasions Boutique Galway after someone recommended it on the forum. They had lovely lace outfits in gold & other colours in teh shop. We had to travel but it was worth it but maybe google them first if your still looking. Hope your mam gets sorted!! :wv
