Wedding Menu

Postby SummerDays » Wed Dec 15, 2021 4:12 pm

Im always been a bit curious as to what everyone else is eating so Ill start the ball rolling

Our Irish wedding menu is :
To Start - parma ham & melon
Soup - undecided, but current thinking is pumpkin (which i really want but looks like being a hasssle) or potato and leek
Main - Wicklow Lamb
Dessert - Lemon Tart

Our wedding part 2 is going to be a cocktail party so lots of finger style food with a few grazing dishes (i.e. mini shepherd pie)
I cant wait till our tasting...

Soooooo gald you posted this topic. My H2b and I have roughly decided on our menu. H2b is a chef ( in a very nice hotel - and talented if I may boast a little!! ). Now, my parents are very plain eating people, as are most of my family. But we had decided on our menu taking this into consideration:

Starter - Chicken Cesar Salad or " Egg Mayo" ( to suit my lot )
Soup - Potato & Leek ( everyone should like )
Main - Sirlion Steak ( again for everyone / veggie option )
Dessert - Lemon Tart or Baily's Cheesecake

I thought this would be agreeable to both sides but to my horror my Mum and Sister are giving me grief!!!! Apparently, Egg Mayo won't be liked by my side of the family ( what the f*** do they want?? ), we should be having turkey & ham ( which H2b does not like) and we simply have to have Pavalova ( which we both hate with a passion!!!!!!!).

I have genuinely tried to have something for everyone but I am failing here. We don't want to change our menu but what else can we do to keep all guests happy?

Any ideas gratefully recieved.
Thanks in advance.

trying to be polite but tell your family to f off!! sorry!! Grrrrr it makes me so mad when people stick their oars in.
I am telling people info on a need to know basis at this stage - if I want opinions I will ask for them.
If your hubby is a chef, he certainly knows his stuff and its important that you and he have the meal YOU want.... if people dont like it, they can do the other!!

- sorry - i have pmt today so god help everyone on the boards!! But they should be saying - if thats what you want then great and not commenting on whether or not people will eat it.

We havent decided fully on ours yet but will probably keep it plain and simple (like us!! )
Vol au vent
carrot and parsnip or somthing similar soup
probably beef
assortment of desserts

are lot are a hungry bunch so loads of spuds!!

My mum is the same...."not everyone eats that" is what I got. She is a really fussy eater but to be honest the only thing she wouldn't eat is the soup. I reckon everyone else will like what we have chosen. Mums suggested menu is

Starter: Melon
Soup: Vegetable
Main: Turkey & Ham
Dessert: Fruit salad

I HATE Turkey & Ham too and theres no way we are having it at OUR wedding.

Just go with what you want or else you will be driven mad trying to please everyone...which is an impossible task anyway
