Chocolate biscuit cake at wedings

Chocolate biscuit cake at wedings

Postby PJCastle » Thu Jan 13, 2022 10:14 pm

I've been at 2 weddings recently and both served choc biscuit cake with their afters food in addition to the traditional fruit cake. I must say that it was fab - lots of marshmallow and other nice things in it.
I'm considering serving biscuit cake at my wedding next year. Is it a good idea? Or is it naf? Should I ice it and have it as just cut into chunks?
I think at least one of the brides sourced it at the Douglas Farmers market in Cork. I think a place called Juleen's.

I think lots of peole are having choc biscuit cake now instead of traditional wedding cake because it is much tastier and easy to make. I don't think it's naff, i think it's popular because it's tastey!

We're having a tier of choc biscuit cake, a tier of carrot cake and a tier of fruit cake becase my mum wants some! :o0

I dont think its naf at all. I think most people seem to have a tier of it nowadays - we certainly are. Its always available when you go to the wedding fairs at the stands the cake people have so it must be a popular choice!

It's so popular so at least it will be eaten unlike fruit cake. It's not my cup of tea but all my friends love it. Not naff at all!!!
One cakemaker said for the chocolate biscuit cake tier she ices a dummy tier for the cake and then the chocolate biscuit cake is kept in the kitchen for cutting- not iced as she doesn't think it suits icing. But depends on the cakemaker and what you want

Choc bisc cake is very popular for weddings. Usually people would go for choc biscuit + sponge + fruit cake or choc biscuit + sponge + sponge.

I love chocolate biscuit cake will definitely be one of our tiers, thinking of one choc biscuit and one rocky road although I know they are very similar! Then will have one sponge!

I did Choc biscuit cake for my friends wedding for her and it was just cut up in the kitchen for serving, you could even have a fake cake on the stand and put the rest in the kitchen to serve, people won't know the difference.

hi, i think its definitely the way to go. We had 2 tiers chocolate and 1 tier fruit, now the fruit was just gorgeous but people just loved the chocolate biscuit cake, we had a good bit left and gave my mam some to give to the neighbours and we had some at home, it was so yummy. Funny though there was no fruit cake left. :wv

We had a tier of Carrot Cake, a tier of chocolate and a tier of Fruit cake. There was none of our Cake left after two days. The Carrot was gone that night and people went into the place where we bought the cake the day after the wedding to buy her carrot cake as they loved it so much on the night.

Our wedding cake was 3 tiers - 1 tier chocolate biscuit, 1 tier traditional fruit and 1 tier madeira.
There was something for everyone!
