Who delivers the cake??

Starting to look at cakes, and I'm just wondering who delivers the cake. Does the bakery deliver it or do we pick it up and deliver it to the hotel the day before?

I know it is a silly question, but it doesnt say anything about delivery on many sites and im a bit embarrased to ask bakers incase its a really stupid question!

The lady who is making our cake is delivering it to hotel and setting it up!

The company who are making ours deliver it to the venue, I think the majority of bakeries deliver it for you.

Thanks ladies, really unsure as it was never mentioned when talking about price and I didnt ask. They never asked either about where the hotel was so not sure if Id have to pay extra for delivery or not as its about 40mins or more from anywhere ive priced!

You would need to ask, 40 mins is a substantial enough distance for a delivery, some people charge petrol cost only, others do free delivery within local area. Wouldn't take it for granted that free delivery is included in prices you have been quoted.

Ours was delivered but there was an extra charge for it.

Normally the baker would sliver to make sure it's all assembled in one piece. But best check with your supplier!

Best to ask your supplier as I got a price from one lady, she would add on mileage after 15 km

It totally depends on the individual baker - some deliver, some don't.

Normally they'll have a certain mile radius on where they'll deliver for free - companies around me its about 20/30kms and after that theres a small charge to cover fuel.

The last thing you want to have to do the day before is collect and assemble a wedding cake.
I simply would not deal with a supplier who would not include delivery and assembly in the price.
You need to be upfront with suppliers about terms such as delivery and pricing. I have absolutly no problem in ironing out the details well in advance with suppliers.I also have
made agreements in writing by either letter or email . That way everybody
knows where they stand.
Its just good business practice.

The baker should make and deliver - maybe an extra cost after 12-15K but should not expect it to be too much - you wont have the time to set up cake - make sure its delivered and set up for you !!!
