When to get wedding cupcakes made?

Hi all.
New to the site.

Getting married 3hours drive away from where I live (on an island).

I've decided to have cup cakes instead of a wedding as I want to keep everything as informal as possible.

I'm wondering how long would cup cakes keep fresh?

We'll be leaving home early the day (Fri) before the wedding, meaning if I were to get them made by a neighbour of mine they'd have to be made & iced on Thur eve. Would they still be fresh by Sat eve?

Or should I get them made closer to the wedding venue & collect them mid day fri instead?

Would a day make that much difference to the freshness of a cup cake?

Depends on the recipe, some keep better than others. A day can be a lot to a cupcake, it is a small amount of cake so can dry out quickly. Best thing to do is have a trial run, get your neighbour to make a few and keep them for couple of days and try them. Don't store them in airtight containers or the fridge, cardboard box in cool room is best.
