Numbers for Evening Menu - Help!

Numbers for Evening Menu - Help!

Postby FionaP2B » Fri Jan 28, 2022 5:50 pm

Hi there,

Can you please give me your advise as to how many people we should cater for at the Evening part of the reception.

We're having approx 100 to the meal and then about 20 - 30 coming in the evening, so should we cater for 130 for the Evening menu or do you need to include the people who've been there for the whole day or is there a happy medium that is suitable.

I haven't a clue what the best thing to do is, so your advise would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
FionaP2B

I was speaking to our hotel about this just last week. I am having about 180 for the meal. I will be inviting about 60 or so more to the afters, the girls at our hotel told us to only order food for the amount of people you invite to the afters. According to her that will be more than plenty as a lot of people dont go up for the afters food. To be on the safe side we might order for 80.

Hey our hotel mentioned the fact that although you are only catering for the afters people - there are lots of men at that stage in the night who always go for the food...esp since people will not have eaten since 6ish....so its better to cater for a few extra.G'Luk

I was told the rule of thumb is 1/3 of your days guest and all of your evening guests.

Hi
My hotel has advised for the evening food to cater for 'half the heads' meaning if you have 100 then 30 you could order evening food for 65, if is on platters, hot food sambos etc then this will be plenty.

Best of luck
