Following my cousins wedding in Nerja, spain in 2008, I fell in love with Nerja, its such a beautiful town.
We hadn't considered a wedding abroad until we had done our guestlist and realised our wedding at home would have been huge!
We then decided to look into italy however this proved to be quite expensive for the amount of guests we would have had. We looked back on my cousins wedding photographs and thought why not go back to nerja as it had been the best wedding we'd ever been to.
We set our wedding date for Friday 9th September in El Salvador Church at Balcon de Europa in Nerja.
Reception booked at Toboso hotel.
Our wedding planner was Sonya Casey the same planner my cousin had used!
Our wedding day came very quickly, we had arrived in nerja 3 days before but the time flew in.
i woke up at 9am and went for breakfast at marisol with my close friends and bridesmaids, at 11am we went to WalliRon's hair salon to start getting beautified, katie from beauty by katie was also there waiting for us, Walli's team were fantastic and we couldnt have been a better atmosphere at the salon.
Katies make up turned out really well and i was very happy with the outcome. I went back to the room to relax for a little bit and to start getting ready, Our wedding photographer alex olson was there to start taking photos, but you wouldnt have known he was there half the time which made us feel a lot more relaxed.at 5 to 4 we went to the hotel lobby and waited for the church bells to start ringing, as we started walking up to the church i still had no nerves i was very excited, crowds of people were there all clapping as we made our way to the chuch which added to the atmosphere. the video team from whistling mule were waiting at the church for us.
Sonya organised everyone and told everyone when it was there turn to start walking which was great because i was ready to run down the aisle to see hubby haha!
I could hear the music from outside the church and for the first time I could feel the adrenaline starting and got nervous for the first time but as soon as i started walking down the aisle i couldnt stop smiling.
the marriage was performed by Fr Gonzalez who was so lovely!
after the ceremony the guests went back to toboso for a champagne reception as we went for our photos. Alex was very quick at getting his photos, it had turned out to be a very hot day about 36 degrees.
the food at the reception was excellent i couldnt fault it i just wish i could have eaten more but being tied into a wedding dress doesnt really allow you to eat much haha!
After dinner we went out to the terrace where the flamenco dancers performed for 30 mins they were fabulous and really got the night off to a great start!! we had out first dance and bridal party dance then the dancefloor opened up and nobody sat down for the rest of the evening the atmosphere was electric!!
our Dj was DJ ollie and i would highly recommend him for your wedding music was spot on and flowed really well which you can tell as nobody sat down all night (except for when we done rock the boat of course haha)
When the wedding ended we went up to our room to find it had been trashed by our bridesmaids and groomsmen, confetti and balloons EVERYWHERE so we spent a good hour and a half cleaning up, i wish i had a pic of me in my wedding dress brushing the floor it was a bit of a cinderella moment haha.
The next day we had a beach party at moreno's on burianna beach it was a great night we hired the rivermen to play for two hours and they provided a fantastic atmosphere! at the end of the night my family and friends all made a guard of honour which we ran through as we were heading off on our honeymoon in florida and everyone else was staying on in spain for their holidays, i have to say my mum and i cried for ages after that it was very emotional leaving but everyone was on a high and are still talking about it!
