Pregnant after miscarriage/loss

Re: Pregnant after miscarriage/loss

Hi Girls, hope ye are all doing well.

Capricorn I am doing domino with Holles st and they don't scan, just use Doppler. Not sure which domino u are with but maybe u could check if they scan otherwise maybe epu will do scan? When we had our follow up after mc the doc said if I get pg again that I can book into epu for scan so think I will do that at 7 wks then probb do private scan at 15/16 wks which is when we lost our boy so will maybe relax a bit after that point pg.

Am off now to enjoy the sun today! Have great weekend girls.

Hi girls

Im so thankful to have found this thread. Finally some people who probably understand what im going through. I have one DS who's a year, and suffered a missed mc at the end of Feb, which just left me totally devastated. Having always known how common miscarriage is etc, i suppose i couldnt have ever understood how upsetting it could be. Anyway, i waited for af to come back after the mc, dtd once the next cycle, and amazingly am pregnant again. All great, but i cant bring myself to celebrate one bit, im just absolutely petrified and almost convinced that its all going to go wrong again. I think im driving DH nuts going on about every tiny twinge or possible ache i feel, as im telling myself (and him) that it probably means the worst. When i suffered the missed mc, i had sadly thought everything was going well as id had no bleeding or pain or anything. So i feel that this time round im working on a 'glass half empty' mentality - im almost telling myself it will all go wrong, so that if it does, ill have myself prepared for it this time. Hope that makes sense, cos i know it must sound ridiculous.

Im 5wk 3days pregnant today, and was told the last pregnancy ended at 5wk 6days, so i cant stop thinking about that now. I ended up going out and buying another pack of clearblue digital tests last night, thinking that i could at least check to see if the wks were moving along on that. I did the first test in the pack last night, and the blasted test didnt work, i just couldnt believe it, it must have been a faulty test as nothing at all appeared on the screen. Talk about adding insult to injury. Thankfully the other test worked this morning, and said 3+, which is something i suppose, but unfortunately i also got to 3+ on the last pregnancy and then went on to miscarry, so im not really sure what i hoped to gain from retesting. I think i was thinking that if i saw 1-2 or 2-3wks id again be able to prepare myself for the worst.

Im sorry for all the rambling girls, its just nice to think that someone here might be able to understand what im going through. Im hoping to have an early scan at 7wks to see whats what then (bawled after getting off the phone to book it) - please god ill get to there and that all will be well. Its just so so hard to feel positive having suffered a loss, isnt it.

Thanks for reading, and wishing you all the best :lvs

Hi winegum and positivevibes, congrats on your bfps! I am so sorry to hear of your losses and praying that all goes well for us all. Positivevibes I love your positivity! We are all fighting off the negative thoughts and day by day we will feel stronger and more positive.

Went to gp yesterday she did a test so still a bfp here! Booked into epu at 9 wks for scan. Bumped into sil in doctors waiting room, what are the chances!? She might have copped but I just said it was follow up after mc.

I've just got a BFP after 2 mc. I've a doc appt tomorrow but I think im about 6 weeks.

Thing is that for my last 2, I rushed off to the doctor and they were positive tests but slow to come up, she said it was probably because it wasnt first pee of the morning and to come back in a few days later.

These ended up coming up slower so I had to wait another few days or go to A&E and I ended up with mc. I feel different this time, I've had no sickness (none the other times either) but I have slept 10 hours every night this week and I am wrecked. I feel sort of weak and lightheaded too. I'm trying to stay calm but I think i'll go off my head if I have to go through all this again.

So what I want to know is it possible to buy pregnancy tests that measure hcg levels? I think I could keep myself calm if i could see the levels increasing. I thought I found one on inhealth.ie but they were only pee collecting cups!

Congrats mrs w on your bfp! Sorry to hear of your two mc. I am also 6 wks. I went to gp last week and booked into epu at 9 wks.

You can buy clearblue digital, they measure hcg for 3 stages I.e. 1-2 wks, 2-3 wks and 3+wks. They measure since conception so if u are 6 wks u should come up as 3+wks but they don't measure higher than that. Best thing is explain your anxiety to gp and get them to do repeat bloods to measure hcg level to check its increasing correctly. Also you should get them to book you into epu for reassurance scan. My gp said to me it's up to nature to determine the pregnancy but we need to do what we can to keep my anxiety at bay and if that means extra scans so be it. So push for what u need from your gp.

I am convinced my symptoms aren't strong enuf but trying not to panic. I am thrilled every time I feel nauseous!

Mrs w, delighted to see you got a bfp and completely with you on the scariness! I got mine last Tuesday so just 5+1 but I'm terrified. Haven't bothered going to doc as I did another clear blue yesterday and it had moved to 2-3. Like you i do feel bit different on this one so really really hoping its a positive sign. Last mc was before the 5 weeks so feel I'm over the first hurdle with many more to come!

Bumble I felt awful last night and was nearly laughing to myself I was so happy, never thought I would welcome nausea!

Hoping for early scan in mc clinic but not sure when i would defo hear heartbeat and want to make sure I should be able to when I go as otherwise I would be freaking out!

Hope everyone else is getting on ok and fingers crossed these are all sticky beans!

It's so great to see so many of you getting BFPs, especially Some of you that I remember from my MMC (WollyJumper here)

I hope everything is going ok for you Winegum.

Mrs W!!!!!! So pleased for you, I really hope it works out.

We got our BFP on Saturday and should be 5+1. We aren't getting our hopes up yet. I've had some light brown spotting since Monday and no symptoms bar extreme tiredness. I went to the doctor this morning, she said it's probably nothing and probably too early for a scan but she's referred me to the EPU tomorrow. But hubby doesn't want to go for the scan because he is convinced that it will be bad news and they will mess us around and make us wait weeks like last time. Is there much that they can actually from a scan so early?

Thanks for replying girls, I did a Cb and its coming up as 3+ so fingers crossed. We're not even talking about it at home, we're afraid to acknowledge it after all the plans we made the last time. I'm trying to not think about it at all until I go to the doc but I just feel really different already, that this one really will be it but then I'm giving out to myself for letting me get my hopes up again.

WIll let you know how I get on with doc tomorrow. We went private to a consultant last week who told us to just go for it and try again (little did I know I already was) but she offered us a free scan at 8 weeks when we were pg again so I think I'll be taking her up on her offer

Mrs w that's great it's coming up 3+wks! Best of luck at doc tomorrow, will be thinking of you.

Dilin o damhsa congrats on your bfp! I think they usually say 7 wks to be sure of seeing heartbeat, heart starts beating towards end of 5 th wk. I would ring epu, you might be better waiting few wks to be sure you can see heartbeat as at this stage they will prob be able to only see sac in uterus, but I could be wrong. Maybe check before u go in if it's a heartbeat u are hoping to be able to see as I think 5+2 might be too early. Best of luck. I am a wreck thinking of mine and it's nearly 3 wks away still, argh!

Ttc2012 congrats! There's loads of us with recent bfps. Bring on the puking and sore boobies!

I am knackered, I could crawl into bed now if I was let!

Hello everyone. Just dropping in to see how everyone is getting on and its great to see more BFP joining. I'm just chugging along with the days wishing we could get to the scan date NOW!!!!!!!!! Ive had some morning sickness over past 2 weeks and am really bloated so am delighted I actually have symptoms. Staying positive as best as I can because as they say, you can spend all your time worrying about something and if it doesn't happen you've wasted all that time, and if it does happen well the worrying hasn't helped you!

Oh Dilin oDamhsa, I had 6 wk scan last time and there was no heartbeat picked up so I had to go back 2 wks later to confirm and all was ok. I did a bit of reading and I think 7 weeks onwards you should def be able to see a heartbeat, so just be warned there may not be one if you go for scan earlier.

went to the doc this morning and we have a very strong positive :o)ll
I could have cried (I still might!) She has me at 6 weeks.

She's writing off to the EPU today and I should have a scan within 2/3 weeks so fingers crossed for that. I dont think I'll actually believe it until I see it though.

I've no sickness but I didnt the other times either, boobs are a bit sore but not too bad, I'm very tired (which I was other times) but I'm also a bit light headed/short of breath if do anything too strenuous (never had that before so i'm taking it as a good sign)

will someone please fast forward the next 2 weeks before I lose the plot altogether???

Mrs W that's fantastic news :o)ll :o)ll :o)ll

I'm totally with you on the fast forward, we decided not to go to the EPU today as I know they won't be able to tell us anything so early. The earliest appointment I can get for my doctor is in 2 weeks so we've booked a private scan for the day before that way we can discuss the results with the doctor. Still not very hopefully, the spotting has slowed down but no symptoms bar tiredness, I'm not pering much which is the missing symptom that worries me most.

Morning all

Hope everyone is feeling well and enjoying this lovely sun!

Dilin O'Damhsa, I think you were right not to go to the epu as it will be too early to see something so there probably wouldn't be anything to be gained other than a bit of worry for you. I'm exactly the same days as you and I told the mc clinic I didn't want a scan until I was absolutely certain there "should" be a heartbeat so have that in two weeks time. My plan is to do a cb digital once a week, so I got 2-3 this week and hopefully next week will get 3+. Other than that I don't think there's anything we can do but hope for the best

MrsW, great that the doc has you at 6 weeks, I would love to wish a couple of weeks away at this point

Lostdj, I like your thinking about the worrying, it makes sense not to worry until we know we ahve something to worry about!

I'm feeling a bit more normal today which has me worried! I'm also very conscious of my tummy if that makes sense, no pains really, I'm just aware of that area! I'm also on cyclogest and aspirin and my gp has offered me pregnyl injections, has anyone else had them? I think they are hcg but not sure exactly what they do!

Hope you're all doing ok, even with this fab weather I wish I could just go to sleep and wake up at 8 weeks!
