What are your plans for XMas Day?
This is just something myself and hubby were discussing. Since we got together we have always gone home to our parents home on Christmas Eve and after dinner on Christmas Day i would go down to Hubby for the day. We said we would keep doing this as it suited and when we have children (hopefully) we would start to have our Christmas Day together as a family.
Now this is our first xmas married and now this option doesn't seem so appealing. I would love to spend the day with him but i would also love to be with my family, especially this year as my brother is going to Oz in a couple of weeks so there'll already be one of us missing. And i know hubby also likes to be at home cos of his mammys cooking, typical  . Anyway, don't know what the outcome will be but was wondering what everyone else is doing.
I was actually only talking to my mam about this 5 minutes ago, Im an only child so i always spend christmas with my parents either in our house or there house. This year we are going to my parents for Christmas dinner and Hubbies parents for St. Stephens day. His parents understand that we wont split for dinner and the fact that im an only child i feel i have to spend Christmas day with mine. So it works out fine for us thank god
This Christmas I will hopefuly be cool, calm and collected and fit to enjoy the day seeing as we'll be getting married three days after Christmas Day! Will need to have everything organised before Christmas Eve seeing as most if not all shops/suppliers will be closed until Wednesday morning (day of wedding)
I always spend Christmas day with my family and H2B with his. We're not sure what'll happen once we get married, probably spend Christmas Day with mine and St.Stephen's day with his. Cannot wait! :D
God my sister asked me this just last night and I was like "sure christmas in yonks away!
We've been both incredibly busy since the wedding and i could just do without the hastle this year so hopefully we'll be sunning our bums in Kenya on christmas day.... aaaahhhh 8)
The first year we moved in together we decided that we'd be together for Christmas day and we'd work everything around that. In the morning we go to my Nan's for an hour then head to the beach with my parents (not that we get in, just watch my mad Dad and brothers!) then we go back to My parents, they have their dinner around 2pm so we have lunch with them. Then after lunch/dinner we head to H2B's parents for the rest of the evening. And have our dinner with them around 7. Then we spend all St Stephens day with my family.
last year was our first christmas living together so we decided i'd stay in dublin, we'd have our dinner by ourselves in the house and then go to his parents in the evening. we had a huge party on christmas eve with all his family and friends which was good craic.
but on christmas day i was really miserable i missed my family so much and i missed the routine we had. so this year we are both going home to donegal for "my family" christmas. will worry about next year when we are married, next year,,,might have my family down to our house - would be the first time in 23 years mum gets to be in dublin for christmas.
Last year I cooked dinner for my family in our new house on Christmas day and then did the same for h2b's family on St. Stephen's Day. Was absolutely wrecked by the end of it but I enjoyed it all the same. This year we will be just back from honeymoon so we are undecided. My mam has offered to have us but h2b thinks that if we go over to my mam's I will end up cooking (happens all the time - invited for dinner and end up cooking it!!). I dont really want to go to h2b's family home for a variety of reasons, cleanliness, lack of a diining table!! and the food is terrible (have not quite forgiven MIL2B for putting beef stock over my dinner because she had no gravy!!!!!). Will probably end up cooking for everyone again - ah well better than getting food poisoning!
We had our first married Christmas last year and we spent it alone together! Was really nice!
In general we don't spend Christmas with his lot cos he's part of a step-family and even at the best of times things are quite heated!!!!! Wanted to do Christmas at home this year (we live abroad) but cos of my stupid hols (I get off of the 23rd) it would've been too much stress so we're off home for NY!!!! Can't wait! ![]() So looks like it'll just be the 2 of us again!!! Yay!!!!!
I wouldnt like to be away from my family for christmas day/dinner.Christmas is a time for family gatherings so its nice to have everyone together IMO.
We alternate it my house 1yr and my mams the other. This year its my turn to have all of us including nanny of course (shes 89)i love it Its gas because my mams does the turkey & ham(i wouldnt have a clue)brings it with her on the day,and i really only do the starters, the veg, roasties, dessert  Must get my thinking cap on to do something fun for the evening time!!
We've alternated Christmas between my family and his since Mini Mon was born. We're going to his this year, but that is the last time that we'll have Christmas away from home hopefully, as we'll have our gorgeous new kitchen with its all singing, all dancing new oven - the one we have at the minute isn't really big enough for a turkey and all the trimmings.
We usually go to the other family for a few days after and spend NYE at home getting p*ssed in the comfort of our own sitting room!
I would love to spend crimbo at home with just me and hubbie this year, dd is going to her dads on xmas eve for the nite  (we alternate crimbos), mam was in oz last year so she will be with us this year. dont know where we are going though as hubbies family love the big huge family thing and would love us to go there why cant things just be simple. :x
Last year was my 1st xmas to be away from home :( but it was my little girls first xmas and we decided to have it as a family ourselves. So we done all the usual visiting and I cooked a lovely xmas dinner with all the trimmings, was very proud! even tho h2b taut our turkey was handicap il explain in a sec
That night h2b's brothers and sisters joined us for a few drinks in our house and we were all sitting watching eastenders (the scene where Den was cutting the turkey just b4 Zoe announced she was preggers) when h2b said now I no what was wrong with our turkey today ya cooked the poor f**ker upside down, look his legs are supposed to be up in the air not down like a chickens well the house erupted in laughter and continued into the next day as we were goin to his mums for dinner and I had to bring the leftover upside down turkey  Ah well not bad for first time, will no better for this year.
This will be ours third xmas living together and so far we both separate for dinner, h2b comes in to my parents for breakie and stays for a few hours then he heads off to his mams and has dinner i call out for tea there later in the day then we always head home to our own house around 7 this year i will defo be trying to chill out as it will only be 4 days to my wedding and i think h2b is going to change tradition and come to my parents house for dinner.
