tiny cut in corner of mouth for AGES.

I get this all the time (from drooling in my sleep :-8

) and often the only thing that works is leaving it be, putting stuff on it seems to make it worse. Oh and sleeping on the other side so that I drool on the other side of my mouth :-8

The corner of the mouth is a very active area - maybe its not getting a chance to heel.

I had a cut at the corner of my mouth a fortnight ago - everytime I laughed or opened my mouth to eat it split it... it took almost a fortnight to go.

I've had angular cheilitis and had a permanent 'split' at the corners of my mouth. My gastronenterologist put me on high-dose vitamin B12 as well as zinc and iron, but it wasn't enough -- I needed steroid treatment to get rid of it. It worked for me, though, and I haven't had it since (that was about ten years ago).

In my experience, no regular cream, lip balm or moisturiser made any difference; it was the steroid treatment alone that sorted it out. The sores of angular cheilitis may become infected by candida, though, so the Canestan might help somewhat.

hey peeps, I know I put this up ages ago but I forgot to come back to it. On the advice of a PM I got from a nurse my husband went to the doc for a swab of his cut but the doc wouldn't do it! I can't remember the person who told me to get this as I deleted all my pms. The doc said you can't swab a cut? Is this true? We finally thought we were going to have a solution to this cut but it is STILL there now and on the other side too!

You can take a swab from a would so I presume you can take one from a cut.
Can you not take a swab of anything? They swab everything on CSI anyways.

He must be gone mad with it.
Has he gone to a pharmacist about it?
They're full of great (free) advice.

Yes, have been EVERYWHERE with it! TBH I'm driven more demented with the bloody thing than him!

I didn't understand about the swab either. I'm going to send him somewhere else, I'm sick of looking at the thing.
