Weddings in England

Hi all,

New Wolly here, newly-engaged and looking to benefit from your collective wisdom!

I'll be getting married in England later this year and just wanted to see if anyone here was doing the same, or did the same, and if you encountered any particular issues. Couldn't find a dedicated thread on the forums!

Ceremony will be an intimate (civil) affair (thank God for small families!), and a massive hooley is planned for the next day! :o0 We'll be having a smaller Irish bash the following weekend O-O

congrats on your wedding. Where are you getting married in england ? ? I'm not getting married there but don't see why there would be any issue's for you i was at civil wedding in the lake district a few years ago and it was one of the nicest weddings so personal and a lovely setting. Hope your plans come together for you best of luck O-O

Hi Pinkie,

Thanks a million! Good to hear :) We're looking at Wiltshire, near H2B's folks. We've started sorting out paperwork etc. and it's looking fairly straightforward, actually! There's a 7-night residency requirement before we give notice of intent to the registrar, but that seems to be the only residency issue (so it's actually a lot better than Ireland in that regard!). Venues so far seem to have availability, even though it's relatively short notice, so that helps too!

Oh Wiltshire is lovely i went on a short holiday down there and loved it so nice and lovely cream scones ! ! Well best of luck with your planning i'm sure you will have a lovely wedding day especially in that part of england O-O
