buying dresses online yay or nah?????

Postby monicah » Tue Dec 13, 2021 10:52 pm

Hey guys, just wondering has anyone bought their dress online? Can you recommend websites? I seen a fabulous Pronovais dress today, it's just gorgeous 1600euro tho.. Just seen it online from a US supplier for 300euro.. Is it dodgy ordering your dress online??? Any feedback appreciated! :)

I did consider buying my dress online but in the end i fell in love with one i couldnt find online.

I know a girl who got her dress from www.thebridalshop.com it was perfect, they sent a free dress cover also and a certificate of authenticity. I also know that other wollies have has success with rk bridal

here are 2 Tips i got for for ordering online:
1. Give a wear date of 3 months from ordering if you don't want your dress delayed.
2. Ask them to put a smaller value on it so as you pay less on customs

I have never planned to buy anything online until one of my friend suggest me to do that. I must bring my wedding ceremony forward because i have a baby unexpectedly. So i have not enough time to order my wedding dress that my best friend suggest me to buy one fromhttp://www.21shoppers.com,I bought one for only£185! It is really gorgeous! :yelrotflmaosmilie:

Hi there,

Some good posts here. I'm getting married in 5 months but haven't gone wedding dress shopping yet. If I want to buy online have I left it too late?? Where do you suggest I start looking?

Thanks a mil,

Its a definite YAY! from me. I tried mine on in a local shop then purchased it online - and its perfect, just needs to be taken up (I'm a short ass). And it was 1/3 of the price :hyper:

jjSillyWan would you mind emailing me the name of the website that you used? I'm trying to put together a list of websites that I can order from and have good quality dresses. Thanks!

If you could send me on the name the website you used as well that would be great.
I've heard that prices for dresses online are alot cheaper but personally I would be concerned about how long it will take to deliver and also the quality of the dress delivered. I won't have a lot of time to get another one if the online purchase doesn't work out I reckon.

Any good/bad stories that people can relate? Just feel that the more I know the better decision I'll make :wv

Thanks!

Hi girls,
I choose to get my dress online last year. I found my dream dress in a boutique in Dublin but they weren't sure they could get it in time & felt it was a bit expensive.
Did quite a bit of research & eventually ordered from www.myweddingdressforless.co.uk - Neta was great in responding to my questions, sending photos etc. My Mum did my measurements and sent photos of the dress. Dress was fab - better than I imagined & didn't need any adjustments. I got my Bridesmaids dessy dresses from Gownsales - genuine article but much cheaper.
As mentioned above give them an earlier wedding date - peace of mind for you. And ask them to reduce the value on the package.

MUST READ!!!! I originally wanted a pronovias "Columba" dress which was out of sale (as it was 2 years old). Saw the ACTUAL picture on e bay advertising that a company in China could make the EXACT dress for $150! Bargain I thought! WRONG!!! It came, absolutely awful! Terrible material, ill fitting, botch sewing, they didn't even pay the proper delivery and I ended up getting a fine.. My advice, try get it made closer to home or just try second hand websites.

I just ordered mine today from eBay. It cost a grand total of £87.00 so not much to gamble and if it's awful I can order another. Before I ordered I contacted another person who had bought the same dress from the same seller and she said it was amazing and to go ahead so here's hoping it's ok.

My friend had a bad experience with one she bought from China - she had to get major alterations done to it and the dress maker said the material was so poor and left no room for taking out on the sides. She did snazz it up with some additional crystals though.
Im just starting to look around online now so fingers crossed.
