High Protein, low carb diets work?

Do High Protein, low carb diets work? i would love to drop a stone wedding is 6 months away current weight is 10stone, 11 pound, really need to get my act together, O:| any advice?

Don't have an answer to your question sorry but just wanted to say I am the same weight as you now. I have put on 10 pounds since my wedding 8 months ago and have decided that today is the start of my diet. I looked in the mirror this morning and my face looked like a balloon. I'm gonna stick to a reasonably healthy diet and just cut out the crap and do a little more exercise.

I've never done the Atkins or any of the REALLY low carb diets but I've cut down on my carbs a lot the past few months & along with exercise, yeah I'd say it does help shift a bit of weight and a lot of bloat! I would have been a carb Queen and eaten a fair bit. Now I rarely eat bread and if I do I try make it brown. I eat a lot more Ryvita, rice cakes or cracottes instead of bread. I still eat a bit of brown rice and popatoes but not that much and I very rarely eat white pasta - mainly only if I'm ordering it off a menu while out.

I've upped my fruit and veg and protein. There can be a bit of carbs in some veg but it doesn't bloat me like white carbs do. I've got IBS and suffer quite a lot with my tum and find I'm a lot better off now that I don't eat so much carbs.

I'd say try cut down firstly and also switch to the brown variety and fill up on more fruit, veg and protein and see how you get on. Good luck!

It worked for me.

Going to the gym and eating what I thought was healthily only got me so far. I could never get beyond a certain weight, until that is I cut my carbs. When I say cut carbs I mean cutting the carb rich foods like bread etc. I still eat food that has carbs in it like bananas. Typical day would be...

Breakfast - 2 eggs scrambled & 2 turkey rashers (250 cals)

Lunch - Salad with tuna

Dinner - Fish or chicken with lots of veg

Snacks - yogurts, fruit, nuts

A protein rich diet means that you stay fuller for longer. If I go to the gym I have a protein shake afterwards. I've never been so slim in my adult life than I am now.
