Flora Women's Mini Marathon

Hi wollies,

So i've decided to set myself a challenge before the wedding and I'm going to do the Flora Women's Mini Marathon.

So all the training for this should keep me on the right track in the lead up to the wedding.

Just wondering if there is anyone else signing up? And if ye want to do a thread to keep us all motivated!!

Registration is opening today and i've been keeping an eye on it all day! Mega excited as it will be my first ever mini marathon!! :o)ll

I've just submitted my entry for it. Sooooooooo excited, it's the first time I've ever done anything like this. :o)ll

I'm using it as an excuse to get in shape for the summer hols (going to spain two weeks later) and also for general health and wellbeing as we will be ttc in June :o)ll

I'm relatively fit enough at the moment. I'd do about 45mins on the treadmill (flat, no hills or anything like that) three times a week in the gym, but I have a bit of a mental block about running on the road. DH has run a few marathons so he's going to be training me for this. We went out on the road last week and we did 1mile which went well. We're going out again this evening and fingers crossed I'll be able to do two miles.

I've just registered as well! Am so unfit and am using it as my motivator to keep going with my slimming world weight loss and get in shape! Will have to set out a training schedule for myself now!

Fair play to you ladies! I did it last year and it really is inspirational. I was not very fit then, and am possibly just as bad now!! Not signed up yet, but will def consider it again this year. Happy Training All!

I'm going to sign up today! Didn't think registration was open yet. I ran it last year and it was a great excuse to get fit. I ran it last year straight off a 12 hour flight, managed it in 1hr 17 mins but couldn't walk for about 3 days after!! Yet here I am about to head to the website to put myself through it again! ;o)

Haha thanks callalilybride! I went ahead and signed up to run it again. Yeah last year was a bit much- I'd signed up to run it and then I had a family emergency in South Africa that came up a few days before but I'd collected about €200 in sponsorship for cystic fibrosis and couldn't bear to let anyone down so I just thought well I'll be tired but I can do it so booked my flights so I wouldn't miss it. Literally got off the plane in Dublin, took a cab home, changed into my running gear and headed off to Merrion Square! I was sooooo tired at the end and my legs were in bits for days but I was delighted to do it.

Did you end up signing up?

Im doing it for the first time this year :-) Starting training tomorrow! Will be doing Zumba twice a week and then walking and small bits of jogging 4 days please god!

Hi girls signed up myself last week.. have started doin the couch 2 5k as a way training for it, starting my 2nd week 2morrow

Hopefully come 4th June ill be able 2 jog it..How is everyone else getting on, hope all is going well
