The room is L shaped and therefore turns a lot of prospective couples off. Think it fits about 160-180 which can also be limiting for local weddings which usually tend to be in excess of 200. The hotel itself is old but well kept. There is a small garden to the front of the hotel with the Cathedral in the background which is nice for a few photos or drinks reception if weather permits.

The highlight would be the food. Having been to numerous weddings in every venue in Clare, without a shadow of doubt the Old Ground excels by a mile. Anyone who has been to a wedding here will undoubtedly concur. The hotel also has a dining room (The O'Brien Room), pub (Poet's Corner) and restaurant (Town Hall) all serving different menus with food excellent in all.

Thanks a mil..didnt think i was going to get any feedback for the Old Ground at all..agree with the L shape room being a turn off but do love their food in the resturant and myself and OH are total foodies..suppose we would just have to weigh up which we care about more if we decided to go with it..
