Athlone or Carrick on Shannon for Hen

Hi Ladies

I am trying to decide on whether i want to go to Carrick on Shannon or Athlone for my hen. I was thinking of going to carrick and staying in the plaza suites and doing a private screening of bridesmaids in the cinema. But then i noticed that the prince of wales in Athlone does something similar. I like the idea of Cinema and champers for my hen. Anyone got any opinions on either of these places or have you been in either place for a hen. Any help is much appreciated!

heh dimples!
cant say bout carrick but i stayed in prince in athlone - best hen ive been at. very hen friendly. packages were brill and food amazing. very busy bar and niteclub was great. cudnt recommend it more.
cocktails are fab too.
make sure u do the cocktail training... great craic. everything under one roof.

We got a package in Carrick on Shannon last year for my cousins hens. It was two nights accommodation in Court Yard apartments plus a burlesque dance class, 3 course meal with glass of wine and a cruise all for 155! We done a burlesque theme and have to say had an absolute ball. Everybody thought it was excellent. Of course if you didn't want to do the dance class you could do a cocktail making class or makeup class its up to yourself. You also get free entry into Murtagh's niteclub and a glass of champagne each.

Everybody had a great weekend and i'm going again in May this year for another friends hens :) Good luck !!

I would definitely recommend Athlone, i seem to be always raving on about Athlone Town but its great town and it has something for everyone. We stayed in the Athlone Springs Hotel :hyper: what a lovely hotel, its a little out of town but the staff were so nice especially reception, anything we asked for they accommodated us with it.
We stayed 2 nights and for the first nite we had food in the bar, which was fab, Pat (barman from Mayo) was lovely and makes great cocktails, the hotel organised one of their meeting rooms for a movie night, nibbles and cocktails which was great we actually all felt like big kids in our pj's watching Bridesmaids.
The saturday we all had a relaxing treatment, kerrie and sharon were fab, some of the ladies went into town shopping, the town is great especially athlone towncentre. That night we had a fun cocktail class, such a great laugh with Ronan, then we went for dinner which was lovely and way too much :) for the night we went to Karma night club (which we werent to happy with because we had to take off all our Hen gear) I felt so bad for Pat (barman) then, 15 hen girls landed on him at 3am and didnt leave him alone till 5am. But i would definitely recommend Athlone Springs Hotel and i will definitely go back. I would pick Athlone over Carrick and its so easy to access, just off the motor way. :hyper:
