Letter of freedom etc.

Letter of freedom etc.

Postby bridelucky » Mon Mar 12, 2022 5:34 pm

Quick question,we are getting married in June in my parish. My priest is taking care of all my forms etc, however my hubby has had to go to his own parish for his birth cert and confirmation cert as well as a letter of freedom. He was given all these without any issue. However he does not live in that area anymore and now needs a letter of freedom and a pre nupitial (enquiry) form from the parish priest for the area we are presently living in.

He is collecting this later this week, does he need to give a donation to the priest or anything?
The priest of his local parish (the one he grew up in) sent it all by post and asked for nothing.

I know the priests wont ask for anything, and while donations are the way to go, Id imagine he doesnt need to give the priest of the town he is presently living in now anything when he meets him this week?

Hope ye understand my question.

I've never actually been in that situation myself but I would assume you wouldn't give a donation seeing as he's not your parish priest nor is he marrying you.

If you feel bad or anything and feel you should give a donation even just pop 20 quid or something into an envelope and a simple thank you letter, should be enough!

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Its literally just accepting a signed form from a priest so they don't expect payment.

O:o)
