responsorial psalm

totally confused over this girls and i think it shows the lack of attention i pay in mass :-8 We're not having a singer at our wedding mass, we're just having instrumental, in our mass book template it states, first reading, then responsorial psalm and it says in brackets after 'this can be sung in which case this is taken out' then it follows with:
Reader: Response: The Lord fills the earth with his love.
All: The Lord fills the earth with his love
Reader: They are happy, whose God is the Lord
the people he has chosen as His own
The Lord looks on those who revere Him
on those who hope in His love. etc etc etc

Does this mean if we dont have the responsorial psalm sung then the above prayers and responses are said by a reader instead?

Totally confused by it all, I just have "Sung" in our booklet which I have already sent to the priest so hopefully he'll let me know if that is correct.
I just got so lazy :-8

The person reads the response first which the congregation repeats and then the reader reads each verse. After each vrs the reader says Response and the congregation say the response.
