Church we had hearts set on is already booked..

Ah i just had my worst fears confirmed .. the church we had wanted to be married in is already booked by a local parishoner .. we are devastated as had it all planned how the morning day would go .. we are getting married in Trim castle valentines day and the church is right beside it :weep The secretary is ringing me tomorrow to offer alternative but I dont know what to do .. I asked would they ever do 2 weddings in one day from the church its on a thursday but they said no they never have ...

Has any one ever heard of a church doing 2 weddings on the day - we have our own priest as we wertetold that if you were from outside the parish you had to have your own priest to marry you..

Not sure what to do

I have heard of churches doing 2 weddings on the same day but it depends on what time the parishioner has it booked for. If theirs is booked for 1 the earliest you could have it would be 3 which would be very late. I can’t see it working to be honest. If I was the parishioner and I was asked to change my time to accommodate someone else I wouldn’t be too happy as I think 2 weddings on the same day really takes away from things. Like when your guests are arriving the other wedding will be just leaving, you won’t be able to decorate the church the way you want it etc. I think you should look into alternatives.

Yeah i know thats what we will have to do... just changes everything - not sure whether to get married in dublin now and go from home - I was planning on going from the hotel staying the night before ... need to sit down and have a good think and replan .. waiting to hear from the hotel they may be able to advise on alternative church near by as yes realistically 2 weddings in same church on same day particularly if one of them is from the town would not be practical ....
