Hospitals and Doctors!!!

Had an out patients appointment today with a gyne regarding ttc. I went in for 9am and waited a while, nurses came took samples etc while waiting, grand. Then got called. there were 3 doors into this one small room... Went in to who I think was the consultants' registrar, was down to see consultant as was my first visit. Went in sat down and there was a male registrar and another woman who I guess was a student... who knows I was never told, only the patient like... went through all the normal stuff....As the appointment went on the door opened twice, someone looked in and went again, student left and came back... nurse came in to talk to me and doc left to speak to guy who had poked his head in. doc came back and went out other door which led straight into the consultant's office, he walked in on a patient with her also. then she came in nurse was there student was there and doc that was originally speaking with me. Consultant asked about some general things that other doc had asked length of ttc etc. and with a total of 5 ppl in the room proceeded to ask about my sex life, the importance of not having sex only around ovulation but 3/4 times a week on a continuous basis... I just thought, Seriously, where is the privacy for the patient on such sensitive issues?? O:|

Ah you poor thing, I had the same thing happen to me & at every appointment (i'd say we went to the same place!). We decided to try Napro instead.

am feeling better after the rant!! amazing what giving out does!! LOL!!
april2005 would you pm me info on NAPRO if u have time at some stage, its something iv read a small bit about but still dont really "get it" and really must look into it as it could be a better route to take.

This is terrible, I dont think I could sit there with everyone coming and going.
Probably would of said something about the privacy. There is no need for doctors to be so rude.

Is there another consultant you could go to see instead as this one sounds like it very unprofessionally run TBH? How are they able to concentrate on you,the patient, ie central to the whole consultation, if there's so much activity going on in and out of the room. Whether it's a private or public appt, they are getting paid good money and should be treating you better IMO. Sounds like both consultant and registrar could have gotten whatever info they asked of you over the phone.

that's terrible OP, it really makes you feel like just a number rather than a person when they do that! I have had lots of hospital visits for colposcopys etc and although they have improved in recent years I do remember one time lying their legs spread and it was like an open house with people coming and going and sticking their heads in around the curtain to 'chat' with the consultant - thinking about it makes me wonder how I ever went back but it has improved in my clinic TG. Do they not think about the person when they behave like that, it is horrible to be made go through that O:|
