I could PUNCH someone **UPDATE: HAPPY ENDING BELOW**

Postby cabbagehead » Tue May 08, 2022 8:36 am

The wine for our wedding is locked in a bonded warehouse in Naas because the DUMBSHITASSHOLEMOTHERFUCKER transporter didn't do the GODDAMNMOTHERFUCKING paperwork for customs.

Despite roughly 6389057362 e-mails and phone calls from me instructing them which offices needed to be contacted, forms that needed to be completed etc.

The wedding is in ten days... Anyone up for a Mission Impossible style break-in to the warehouse to liberate the lovely, LOVELY wine from OH's home region that we were looking forward to sharing with everyone? The wine that we spent weeks choosing, that is perfect match with our meal, and that is actually a very generous wedding present from my darling in-laws?

:weep O:| :weep O:| :weep O:|

**UPDATE**

Well, with four days to go before the wedding the wine has been RELEASED FROM CUSTOMS GAOL!!!

The customs officers of Co. Kildare played an absolute stormer, a guy gave me his own personal mobile number and did not rest until the paperwork was in order. The wine was officially released today and will be delivered to my venue tomorrow, to be consumed joyfully on Friday.

The first toast in the speeches will be going to that fella in Athy who made sure we wouldn't be toasting with empty glasses :o0 :o0 :o0

BRING ON THE WEDDING! HALLELUUUUUUUUJAH!

O-O O-O O-O O-O O-O O-O O-O O-O O-O O-O O-O O-O O-O O-O O-O

I'll grab the balaclavas, you grab the crow bars and I'll meet you there at midnight. ;o)

Seriously though, that's very stressful. I hope the transporter is being suitably apologetic?

Hah! Thanks Sproket. I'm looking into those doo-hickeys to abseil down from the ceiling horizontally :o0

SSF I have been on the phone all morning (thank GOD it's a bank holiday over here) to the wine merchants, the French branch of the transport company, and the Irish branch. The French branch have said in writing they'll sort it all out and accept any additional costs, the Irish [LONG STRING OF EXPLETIVES] in Naas, who actually have the wine, are refusing to honour what their French colleagues - OF THE SAME MOTHERFUCKING COMPANY - have already agreed to in writing.

It will get sorted in time alright, but I don't know how or when exactly. Waiting on a response to a very very strongly worded e-mail right now.

You know what gets me though, I knew this was going to happen. I just knew something was up when the French lads said "yep, everything's grand for the taxes, that's all done" and then didn't ask us for money for the customs payment.

I'll keep you posted.

Oh Balls!!

How come you need to pay taxes though if it's for your own consumption and it's coming from the EU?

Believe it or not, if you do not personally accompany the wine in transit, the law is that you have to pay customs and VAT (this is true in all member states). OH and I weren't able to get enough time to do a ferry trip over to Ireland, and seeing as his parents are giving us the wine as a gift, it left money in our budget for the transport and taxes and so we decided it would be "less hassle" to have a transporter look after it.
