Niggly wedding day annoyances-get it off your chest!

ahhh where to start!

1. too much confusion in the house on the morning, you would swear it was the first wedding to take place in the house! mother giving out about her flower for her jacket (MIL is a florist and actually gave my mum the worst possible one there) resulting in my quick run to another florist to get one done.

2. Someone stole my memorial candle! yes STOLE!! and i know who did it coz i can see it on the dvd! and they now pretend they never even saw it, but its on their mantalplace!

3. pb's mother not doing waht she was told and not sitting where she should have sat resulting in Pb running wild in the church!

4. bm's driver decided he knew a short cut to the reception venue and did not follow the bridal car.

5. MIL decided to wear the exact same top as my mum for the evening and nearly managed to crack her neck trying to get checked in and to her room to change into it before my mum! and YES the wagon did know what she was doing as i told her not to wear it!

6. MIL annoying the craop outta me for the day asking questions, asking me to get the photographer to take a pic of her in and when he was taking the group ones she wanted to see how she looked first and if it didnt agree with her she wanted it taken again.

7. PB's mother going missing and just leaving the child to run riot around the place! and when the meal was starting she asked for a high chair so she could feed the child even though he is 4!! and still in nappys! and still being spoon fed baby jars!!

8. have to go looking for the band!

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh that felt better! thanks to the inventor of this page!

CDS, sounds like you had a patience of a saint to get through all that, but this made me laugh out loud- how could someone have the neck to put your candle on their mantlepiece? And are they on DVD lifting it? That's insane!

Had a great day and have lovely memories of it but couple of things still niggle me:

Family photos are crap, we didnt want to spend too long getting them done so just asked for a few to be taken. My brother and his wife picked up their kids to hold for the photos but in each photo, they are looking at the kids instead of the camera. Photographer should have said something. :duh:
Some of the photos while getting ready couldn't be used because my sisters and my mother never tidied up after themselves and you can see random cans of hair spray/ glasses/ drinks in the shots.

I got beautiful unity candles made and the florist brought them to the reception but they had disappeared when I went to get them the next day. This really bothers me as I got married abroad and have no other mementos from the day.

Oh that felt great! Thanks for opportunity to get that off my chest!

I'm only married 12 days and it was amazing, but there were definitely a few niggly annoyances:

*) My tan ended up being a bit darker than my trial which resulted in MUA slightly darkening my foundation to match it. I didn't see any issues when I looked at myself in the mirror on the day but any of the photos taken with phones or point and shoot cameras make me look ridiculously dark. Thankfully the photographer's look fine (he sent a few to reassure me!) as do ones taken by another friend with an expensive camera. But it upsets me to think that there's photos of me out there on people's cameras looking like a bit of an oompa loompa!!

*) We made our own cake which we delivered to the hotel the evening before and I was insistent on setting it up and stacking the tiers which they were trying to say they'd take care of. The next day when we went in to look at the room the cake had obviously been unstacked and stacked again- the tiers weren't centred and there were some dents in the icing.

*) Part of the hotel's package was that they would carve our main joint in the dining room (didn't happen) as well as provide the bride & groom with a champagne breakfast (no champagne).

*) My BM had arranged champagne and strawberries to be left in the bridal suite for us, along with a note- no note was left so we just assumed this was part of the deal. It was only when I mentioned it the next day to another friend that she told me it was a gift from my BM- I felt so bad for not thanking her before then but explained there'd been no note.

*) We had tonnes of cake left over yet there wasn't enough put out for people on the night.

*) My DH's two SILs were missing for the family photo.

*) A small scallop of fabric at the top of my dress kept flopping over and you can see it in a lot of the photos (at least ones I've already seen).

*) My friend sent an email to the hotel wishing us well and asked if it could be read out at the speeches - we got a copy of it in the post from the hotel a week after the wedding!

*) My dad was speaking too loudly into the microphone and holding it too close to his mouth during his speech so it sounded all screechy. My mum kept discretely trying to pull his hand away from his mouth but just gave up after about 3 attempts as he kept bringing it back up again O:| .

It seems like a lot when I write it all down but in fairness most of them were only small things and in the grand scheme of what was a truly amazing day, where we were blessed with the weather and having all of our family and friends around, they really don't matter O:o) .

I think this thread is brilliant!! I'm not getting married until August but I've certainly learned alot! Some of the replies are hilarious and its making my day at work go much easier! The candle story is pretty unbelievable! How can anyone do something like that?! I think on my next visit to that house i'd discreetly put it in my handbag!!

Ahh seriously, why don't you go over to her house show her the video and take the candle back? or better still bring over a bottle of wine get her hammered and then when your leaving pop it into your bag and off you pop...tell her you didn't see anything at all and ohh you found your one! :innocent:
