Did you cry??

Did you cry??

Postby DizzyVic » Tue Jan 17, 2022 10:09 pm

Hi there,

just wondering how many brides cried as they walked up the aisle?? I'm usually very sentimental, as in I cry at everything! I'm always blubbering on Don't Tell the Bride! And I get teary eyed thinking about my wedding day.

But I was bridesmaid for my best friend a while ago and didn't shed a tear in the church! I was so nervous on the day and so focused on making sure everything went smoothly for her, I didn't get emotional at all!

Just wondering, will I be like this on my own wedding day and would like to hear from all the Newly Weds that have already gone through it all. :-)

Got a wee bit overwhelmed but managed to stave off the actual tears.

I cry at every single wedding, even for people I don't know so I was a bit nervous about walking up the isle for my own wedding, and the vows. The thought of it used to sometimes terrify me.

But on the day I shocked myself by being absolutley perfect, no tears, no shaking. I was completely calm and just so so excited. :) it was the best feeling in the world.
(I did take alot of rescue remedy though and I'm convinced it helped :o0 )
Hubby didnt take anything to calm himself and he seemed so nervous, I had to hold his hands still during vows they were shaking so much. I really enjoyed every minute of the ceremony, could not stop smiling :D

Apart from the Rescue Remedy, this post describes me spot on! DH was a bit misty eyed and nervous, but I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.

I cried at my friend's wedding 6 months before ours, and she didn't shed a tear... whereas she said she cried all the way through mine .

Ha thats mad isn't it, maybe it wasn't the rescue remedy at all. It's just such an out of body experience that we're probably half in shock half excited. My friends cried all the way through mine too and all I could do was grin and giggle to myself. It was brilliant.

And now that I think of it... at nearly all of the weddings I've been to I've never seen a bride cry, it's nearly always the groom.

I thought I'd be dead nervous walking up the aisle, but it flies by and people are just grinning at you so all you can do is grin back! I grinned all the way through the ceremony. I thought the speeches might get to me, but they didn't. After that, I'd nothing to be overly nervous/upset about.

You're right, I can only remember one bride crying, apart from that it's been the grooms!

Hi DizzyVic, I am a crier, cry at other peoples weddings, any weepy films, childline adds kill me :-8 so I was expecting the same to be true on my wedding day (as did most people) As Rocksie says everyone is grinning and saying hi so you can't help but grin back. I was on such a high nothing could stop the smile even though I looked like my face would crack. Don't worry and if the tears come so what, bet you won't be the only one!

I cry very easily too, films, songs, adverts, I'm such a sap! one of my biggest worries was crying during the ceremony but it is exactly as the other girls say, you can't stop grinning back everyone

got a little choked up during the speeches but no actual tears, however everyone else more than made up for me! my mum and aunts cried during the ceremony, my MOH uncontollably so during our first dance and my dad, who I have rarely seen cry was blubbering all day, my own fault though I suppose cos I told him he had to have a tear in his eye when he saw me in my dress, whoops!! :duh:

I'm a sap and i honestly cry at everything so I really surprised myself on the day. I got up the aisle without a tear. I did have a little moment when I got to the top of the aisle and saw DH there and was listening to the choir sing.

Yep I cried walking up the aisle. I would have been grand only for my sil. She turned around and started bawling just before going up the aisle before me and that started me off. I looked at me fil and he was crying too so I was no more good then :o0 When I reached the top though my emotions were under control again and it was all fun and games then.

I was actual grand. I was crying listening to the music I choose before the wedding but on the actual day I held it together and was ok.

Thought I might as I cried at weddings on tv etc. beforehand and every time I thought about my vows I cried. But when it'a actually happening you're so concentrated on what's going on and you're on a high. I teared up when my friend sang a beautiful hymn at communion, but not for the actual wedding bit.

To answer my own question, yes I cried all day!! Happy tears, emotional tears, loved up tears! :-)

I even choked up during the rehearsal!

On the day I was calm until I left the house. As we were driving out of the estate in the wedding car with my little girl tucked in next to me, so excited about mammy and daddy getting married then it kind of hit me and set me off for the whole.day!

All through the.ceremony. The music just kept setting me off. It was so magical! Then greeting the guests, everyone looking so happy for us, then the speeches. Actually my :ooh nose is bright.red in. all the pics I've seen from all the crying. But at, least the eye male up lasted through all the tears!

This was me exactly!!All my friends were slagging me as im that girl who crys at every event no matter how menial. I cried at the the thought of me and my dad walking up the aisle, cried at the thought of all those people I loved making such an effort for me and on the morning, a veil of calm descended. I was happy, excited and nervous but not one bit upset!!i even had a xanax for the night before and that morning but didnt even have a rescue remedy squirt. My very calm husband was so pale and serious in the church that I had to squeeze his hand so he would lighten up. He regrets that he was more nervous than he imagined he would be while I was expecting the worst...I will continue to cry at everyone elses wedding as its a wonderfully happy day !!
