Bridesmaids Duty on the day - tips please :)

Bridesmaids Duty on the day - tips please :)

Postby penguinkisses » Sun Apr 22, 2022 6:38 pm

Hey,
I'm BM for a friend who's getting married at the end of May. I've never been BM before and just wondering if you could spare a moment to let me know what exactly I'm supposed to do on the day itself! :eek
I've read that I've to 'mind' the bride, but could you please break that down for me? I want to be the most helplful bm I can be...what did your BM do for you that made life easier? I know she's going to be stressed on the morning of the wedding so if you've any tips of helping her keep the stresses at bay that would be brilliant too...thanks so much!!

I really appreciate it!! :thnk

Well i have been bridesmaid twice and here is what i did for my brides on the day of their wedding.
- Calmed down the MOB as she can often stress out the bride
- Made sure that everything was moving along on time the morning of the wedding (hair, makeup), make sure you wear a watch but take it off before you leave for the ceremony
- Ensured that the bride tried to at least eat something and drink something (not necessarily alcohol)
- Had tissues at all times (stuffed into my bra as no pockets in dress)
- Before leaving the house/venue ensured that i practiced with the bride on sitting down in the dress and how best to arrange the dress while she is sitting down at top of alter (you don't want to be fussing with the dress and trying to decide what to do while standing at the top of the isle)
- After the ceremony while the bride is walking round talking to people and having photos taken, i was guarding her dress, ensuring people weren't about to step on it or spill something on it.
- Had an emergency pack (lip gloss, powder, deo, wet wipes, gel foot cushions, saftey pins etc) stashed in a spot that i could access quickly if bride required it.
- Helped the bride tie up her dress before the dancing
- Help her in the toilet

I would suggest asking your bride if there is anything that she needs you specifically to do on the day of the wedding.
Best of luck.

hi I would agree with this girls, but one of my bridesmaid put a sandwich and crisp in my car for me to eat, whilst going to the hotel. was a great idea.
have some plasters and safety pins sewing kit... and things to stop blissers. dont do to much messing with the dress. ure job is to assist her. and keep her calm. and just relax you to.
