Finally I got around to doing my report. I got married on the 14th february '09 - Valentines day. Everybody kept saying to me that it was very romantic, how wrong they were. We choose that date as I am a teacher and it was during mid-term.
School gave me 5 personal days before the wedding and all I can say is 'Thank God'. One word of advice is take a few days off before the wedding as you will be running around no matter how organised you are.
The day before the wedding My h2b is from the country so his mam, aunt, uncil and the best man arrived. One of my friends took me out for lunch that was great as I needed time out just to chill. I left for my parents house at 4.00. We had arranged for the rehersal for 7.30 that evening as the priest was travelling from my h2b home parish.
My parents house was mental as all the relations were arriving and dropping into the house with pressies. They live 5 mins from the hotel. They were organised and had roasted a turkey and ham and had loads of salads and fresh bread in. We all just helped ourselves as there was no time for a real dinner and this went down a treat the next day before the wedding.
After the rehersal we all went up to the hotel as h2b friends and family were all there also. My poor hubbie was driving as he, his mam and the best man were going back to our house. They left about 11. I stayed there having a few drink until 1.30. It was great craic and I really didnt want to leave.
My friend is a beautician and stayed in my parents house as she was doing all our makeup for the wedding. I had no trouble sleeping thanks to the few drinks : ) I woke at 7 and got up made a cuppa and toast and was watching tv when my mam got up. My bridesmaid collected me at 8.30 for the hairdressers. While were there my mam, friends and relations arrived in and got their hair done There was a great buzz there.
When I got back to my parents the neighbours were in and there was a gang in the kitchen getting make-up done and eating the turkey and ham. I had no nerves at all and I am on dvd tucking into a large turkey bagette and a few glasses of champaigne.
The photographer arrived and so i headed up to get the dress on. The morning really flies. Our ceremony wasn't until 1.30 but I don't know where the time went.
I cannot believe how relaxed I was not one bit of nerves. I had many a sleepless night coming upto the wedding and had some mad dreams but one bit of advice - please try and relax and enjoy every minute of your day. It was the best day of our lives but just flies by.
We were so lucky with the weather. The week before we had the snow storms but our day was cold but dry. What more could a girl ask for.
We went away to Prague for a few days after the wedding but are going on our honeymoon in august for 3 weeks to the west Coast of America. I can't wait and it gives you something to look forward to after all the wedding hype is over.
