Gluten Free choc biscuit cake!

Hi Girlies!

Just wondering if anyone knows of a Gluten free choc biccie cake have been googling all evening so many are gluten free except the biccies eh duh that's the bit you can't eat!!! O:| :eek

My sis is coeliac and wants it for her wedding :o)ll

im sure if you ring around different cake makers and enquire that they could make one with some varieties of gluten free biscuits.
other ingredients chocolate, golden syrup, butter...these are all ok aren't they?
I made one recently as a trial for my own cake. its not that hard to do if ye fancied it. just the icing is trickier than i thought...but very doable.

If the only thing that isn't gluten free is the biccies then any cake maker can do it, it's just that gluten free biccies are way more expensive so it would be an expensive cake!

Would she go for just one tier gluten free?

I'd ring a couple of places and ask them, the websites might not have all the info :wv

I've had that too. I even posted on here a while back looking for a good baker. I had found a girl locally (Carlow area) that was doing my cake, then I heard she moved so was back to looking, but have since found she was doing an internship abroad with a rather large cake establishment and will be back soon.

If you want her details I'm sure she can help if you are up this side of the country.

I've always wondered when they said that the Choc biscuit cake was Gluten free, as I've always been afraid they just assumed as no flour used = Gluten Free. Last thing your sister needs is to be ill on her wedding day/next few days.

Georges Patisserie in Slane do a gluten free chocolate biscuit cake as far as I recall from my tasting - they might be worth a try?

I would go to a specialist gluten free baker to be honest. They would have a set of tins/utensils etc as the risk of cross contamination can have very serious effects for a coeliac sufferer. My cousin has it and he has a seperate toaster in work for toasting his bread , he can also tell you if a 'gluten free' meal in a restaurant was prepared in pans/saucepans that were used to cook regular food. He can and has gotten quiet ill from eating food not prepared properly .

There is a cafe in athy co Kildare, think its called the bay tree or the bay leaf?? Anyway, the owner is ceolic and most of the food is gluten free and made in gluten free kitchen. They make fab desserts, some of the best selection of gluten free sweet things I've seen,I can't remember if they do choc biscuit cake but they do other desserts and brownies etc so might be worth a try. Also Wilde and green shop in Miltown, Dublin do a rocky road choc biscuit cake gluten free but they sell by portion so I'm not sure if u can buy full cake.

I'm not coeliac - But i have a friend who is allergic to gluten, millet, oats, yeast ....you name it.

One christmas I got her a voucher for a lady that sells cakes in marley park at the markets. and all gluten free.

I did some research for you - google glutenfreecakery. She is based in rathfarnham

My friend said her stuff is fab...
