Re: Worst wedding menu
Melon for start, rank! Most meats/main courses I would eat but would prefer a fish option.

Re: Worst wedding menu
I think the traditional menu of chicken & mushroom vol au vont, turkey & ham and profiteroles is enough to make me want to leave the reception. I'm not saying I expect Michelin star food but I think people can get a little creative. My ideal menu is goats cheese tartlets, any type of fish as I can't stand over cooked meats & something refreshing and light like fruit salad or perhaps pavlova to finish a meal. You'll find though you can't please everyone so go with what you an hubby want xox
Re: Worst wedding menu
It's a personal thing, I'm not a beef/lamb eater and hate Salmon (not a big fish person but will give white fish a go) so hate seeing those on a menu together.
Re: Worst wedding menu
I wouldn't be a hugely fussy either but I don't either lamb or salmon so if this was a main course choice on a menu I'd be screwed.
In contrast to another poster though I LOVE to see chicken and mushroom vol au vents on a menu, yummy yummy. Re: Worst wedding menu
if i get one more melon started and goat cheese tart i will flipping scream.
15 weddings in the last 4 year and 11 of then gave me frikken melon and goat cheese tart ![]() ![]()
Re: Worst wedding menu
Just from reading these few replies tells you clearly that you won't please everyone so it just confirms to me to go with what I and let the begrudgers be hungry

Starters and dessert can be anything and it wouldn't bother me but I really really hate Turkey and Ham for the main course. I'd prefer chicken or beef. We still have to do our food tasting but turkey and ham is a definite no go for us! As the others said you can't please everyone an no doubt we'll have a few who don't like our choices but we'll go with what we like.

Re: Worst wedding menu
Go with whatever you like and what you can afford. We are having a fairly "standard" menu as it is what we can afford and if people dont like it they are welcome to leave it behind! I would be grateful to be fed anything at all! If its a choice between serving fancier food or having an extra 10 people at the reception with a standard menu, I know which one I'd go for. You will never please everyone no matter what you serve so please yourself!

Re: Worst wedding menu
I hate salmon, would hate that and it tends to be on alot of menus! I also prefer to have one full dessert rather than the 'assiette of desserts' that's on alot of menus!
Re: Worst wedding menu
You definitely can't please everyone and this thread may offend people.
Personally for a summer wedding Melon can be nice and light. And I LOVE Chicken & Mushroom Vol U Vents... I love seeing them on a menu. One of the weddings I was at last year had a choice of Turkey & Ham or Roast Beef and I can't remember if it was 6 or 8 people from our table chose the Turkey & Ham option over the beef... so it is still a popular choice. I had it and it was lovely. Re: Worst wedding menu
I am a fussy eater and I would always go for beef, I only eat chicken I've cooked myself.
I love vol u vents and I would love to see profiteroles on a menu! People don't normally have options of beef/chicken because the prices are so different. I hate goats cheese too (had a terrible experience with a Christmas party in new job sitting beside the boss who kept asking was the food ok so I had to force it down) and I can't look at it since!
Re: Worst wedding menu
It differs from person to person but personally myself I like to have an option Im not a fish person so a beef dish is what I myself would go for.
Alot of people can be wary about chicken dishes I personally dislike the turkey diner at a wedding i cant stand turkey dont get me wrong i love a sunday roast but more often than not its too dry. As for starters I love vul a vents but its nice to have the option of a salad or soup of some kind. But honestly I can say if i went to a wedding and it was melon and turkey i wouldnt complain or anything id be grateful that the couple thought to include me in there day and wedding meals are expensive so it is about what people can afford its hard to feed 100 guests and keep them all satisfied. We are spending a little more than what we had originally hoped to on our meal because our family especially mine always seem to comment how the meal and the music is key in any wedding its supposedly what people remember most. So we've opted to give people options and choose our venue partly because they are known for there grub.
Re: Worst wedding menu
Just because I am a fussy fecker. This would be my worst case desert
Stuffed Mushroom Tomato Soup Pork tiramisu Then again as long as the table company is fun and the drinks are flowing I am happy
Re: Worst wedding menu
I don't like it the cliche wedding food, that you would get in a carvery, turkey and ham, vol au vonts, profiteroles etc. all hotels can vary it and for the same price. It's nice to see something different! U want a bit of personality and orginality shown in the menu. We can all eat our own choices at home!
