Real Bridal Beauty - Aoife Callaghan of The Bridal Lounge

We take a look at real bride Jillian Bolton's make-up for her wedding day, and see how make-up artist Aoife Callaghan achieved her fresh and sexy look!

Bride: Jillian Bolton
Make-up artist: Aoife Callaghan at The Bridal Lounge

Jillian requests: Jillian wanted her look to compliment the style of her dress, which was a stunning David Fielden gown from Myrtle Ivory. Her dress was simple yet very elegant which gave room for her hair and makeup to also be very elegant but with great definition.

Jillian’s hair: Jill’s hair was done by the brilliant Michelle Grimes who works for COM Hair Salon in Temple Bar but is also one of our main hair stylists at The Bridal Lounge. I have worked with Michelle for a number of years now and our two styles work very well together to help clients create the perfect beauty look for their wedding day. Jillian wanted an up-style that was elegant and softly structured as opposed to something very severe and tight on her head. Jill didn’t wear a veil on the day but instead wore a very simple feather fascinator which she sourced on Etsy.

Jillian’s make-up: Jillian is usually quite creative with her own makeup and would be used to wearing strong eyes so the look we created was perfect for her. I was very excited when I first did her makeup trial and she requested ‘strong eyes’! Jillian has such a great look with amazing features so the focus was on her eyes, with a little foundation to compliment her beautiful skin. I used Bobbi Brown Black Pearl long wear cream shadow on her eyes with lots of carbon eyeshadow from MAC to create the definition around her eyes. I also used Armani lasting silk foundation on her skin with MAC SpringSheen blusher on her cheeks and of course my favourite lippy ‘Viva Glam II’ from Mac!

Expert Tip! Try not to experiment with your beauty look on your wedding day - choose a look that would be similar to how you would wear your hair and make-up as a guest to a wedding rather than trying to look different. Your look should be timeless and most of all you should look like yourself but at your absolute best!
