Leap year proposal
Hello, new to this, need some advice/opinions.
Would you propose to your other half? I'm with my other half for 2 years and have never been happier. This morning I noticed its a leap year this year and I got this frission of excitement through me. I want to do it. Why shouldn't I? What do you think? Is it a good idea, bad idea? How will I do it? Should I have something to give him? Not a ring obvs but a coin maybe?
Re: Leap year proposal
Awe thats so sweet. Have you and your OH talked about marriage before? What I'm saying is would he say yes
![]() If however ye have little conversations about marraige and the future, I would totally go for it ![]() ![]() ![]() A friend of mine proposed her her now husband, granted they had been together about 10 years and were living together with their child but he would NEVER have asked her!!! Men and their blissful existence!!!! Do something special for him and have something to mark the "engagement", even when DH proposed to me, I went straight out and bought him a watch and engraved it with love from mrs fishermansbride to be!!!!! Good luck, can't wait to hear what you do ![]() ![]() ![]() Re: Leap year proposal
Well, we have spoken about a long term future together and all that may come with it. I suppose I'm asking as I don't know whether he'll say yes!? Not because he doesn't want to be with me but because he's the man etc etc. He's a fairly open minded person.
I was all excited about it but I did a search on the topic and all I can say is GOOGLE IS EVIL. ![]() Talk of immasculating him and ripping off his manhood and stamping on it! ![]()
Re: Leap year proposal
Only you know the personality of your bf but I personally wouldnt do it. The reality is that girls are often quicker to be ready for marriage than the average guy (not always the case but overall because we tend to daydream in a way that most guys simply dont). Also, and I dont mean this is a sexist way but its the guys perogative to ask. If tradition dictated that it was the girl then that would be fine but thats not the case. Its not that you need to keep to tradition (I'm all for breaking tradition on most stuff) but this is a very important thing and some guys have grown up with the expectation that they will have the pleasure of asking. Also, they know its their job to ask so it leaves out a lot of wondering about whether he is ready or not. The simple truth is that he would ask if he was ready because its well known that its his responsibility to do so. There are some exceptions to this rule, namely those annoying fellas who are happy to date for 10yrs and need that push but after 2 years I think its only fair to give him his chance to make that decision himself. If it was 5yrs in, my answer would be different. HOWEVER, you know your bf better than anyone and if he genuinely likes surprises and always leaves you to make the big decisions in your relationship then maybe its okay.
Re: Leap year proposal
I asked my H2B (it was a very drunken international call
![]() In fairness, he did say that ever since he was younger he had planned how he would propose...like little girls dream of getting married I suppose. That said he was sure he'd never marry until he was with me, and in the end his big proposal idea went out the window altogether! ![]() Go with your gut...or as in my case, quite a lot of jagermeister ![]() -Let's eat Grandpa
-Let's eat, Grandpa Correct punctuation can save lives... Re: Leap year proposal
Just wondered if any women have proposed to their boyfriend, especially on a previous Feb 29?
I'm writing an article on the subject so would be great to hear from anyone - you can PM me or email [email protected]. Cheers!
Re: Leap year proposal
Oh I dont know about this one, just from conversations with male friends, most of them hate the idea of this. I dont know why but some of them I know went into hiding on feb 29th saying they had a football match or a work committment to go to just to avoid it even though their girlfriends had no intention of asking them. the 29th of feb puts the fear of god into a lot of men so thread carefully.
Re: Leap year proposal
I wouldn't have had the nerve and guts to do it but I wish I did. If it is an exciting idea to you then go for it.
![]() ![]() Wishing you the best of luck.. I would love an update from you in March. That is if he doesn't jump in and pop the question before you on Valentines day.
Re: Leap year proposal
