South Africa advice plzzz:-)

South Africa advice plzzz:-)

Postby summerbridee » Sat Apr 14, 2022 7:25 pm

Hi Ladies
So am dying to get started on booking honeymoon!! So have a daughter who will not be coming with us. We had planned to do Florida with her but she doesn't want to come as she wants to stay with her auntie... Imagine!!! Now we are thinking of SA but probly won't go for longer then 7-9 nights. So would this be long enough for SA and what would be a good plan, must dos, best hotels, safaris etc.... Was considering Dubai for two nights but not sure if it would be worth missing any days in SA for? Any advice much appreciated xx

It depends really on what you want to do. I'd recommend at least 4 nights in Cape Town and would recommend a whole load of things to do there not least Table Mountain, the Cape Peninsula, the V&A Waterfront, Robben Island, Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, the winelands etc. I personally think the best hotels in Cape Town are The Vineyard in Newlands, The Twelve Apostles in Oudekraal and the Mount Nelson in Gardens. I'd also recommend doing the Garden Route and seeing Hermanus, Knysna and Plettenberg Bay. Have never been on safari but have heard great things about Shamwari in the Eastern Cape. To be honest there's loads to see in SA so I'd give yourself the very minimum of a week.

Hi,
The longer you have in South Africa the better, there is so much to see and do! I would recommend flying into Johannesburg as its easy to get to Kruger Park from there (40 min flight to Nelspruit airport near the park). You could spend maybe 3 or 4 days in a resort outside the park and not be bored as you can do night and day time safaris. I would highly recommend the Pestana Kruger Lodge (http://www.pestana.com/en/pestana-kruge ... /home.aspx), amazing! We also did a day trip from here to Maputo in Mozambique. You could then fly to Cape Town or drive the Garden Route if you have more time. You could stay a few nights in Camps Bay (beautiful seaside suburb of Cape Town with great restaurants and bars), and its def worth taking a trip to the winelands, we did a day trip, but if I was there again I'd have at least one overnight in Franschoek. You can cage dive with great whites in Gansbaai, about 90 min drive from Cape Town, expensive but so worth it!
The waterfront in Cape Town is the best place for restaurants, you'll be spoilt for choice!

Hey there, just wondering did any of you do S.A in our summer time?? we are getting married next summer and would love to do the garden route and Capetown on honeymooon, but all the websites I have checked give an average climate of round 20C for July.
What do you guys think, to cold or not for honeymoon?

We went to South Africa in the summer a few years ago for our honeymoon. We were there for 3 weeks the end of July and start of August and were very lucky with the weather. Only had one day of rain and temps were around 18-20 deg most days I think so warm enough for a t-shirt (although the South Africans thought it was freezing!). We reckoned we weren't really going there for a 'sun' holiday so didn't mind that the temperatures weren't hotter.

The bonus for us was that it's their winter season so hotels were a fraction of the price they were in peak season. Some were 50% cheaper which meant we got to stay in some amazing hotels we definitely couldn't have afforded at a different time of year.

:wv Hi from South Africa

Cold wet and miserable here at the moment.

Had 3 rotten days, should be back to normal in the morning,.

Winter should be over and back to summer. O.K. now for your honeymoons.

See you soon
