MOYVALLEY HOTEL AND BALYNA HOUSE or CLONABREANY HOUSE

MOYVALLEY HOTEL AND BALYNA HOUSE or CLONABREANY HOUSE

Postby mrsslatobe » Sat Mar 10, 2022 2:41 am

Hi all,

my first post on this!

We are considering moyvalley hotel for our wedding reception and I am interested to hear of any recent feedback on this place? Another venue we are interested in is Clonabreaney House in Meath.

Any opinions or feedback on either venue is very welcome.

Hi Mrsslatobe,

I've never been to Clonabreany House, but we have booked Balyna for our wedding in January 2013.

The venue is great: Manor House (Balyna), Stone house, modern hotel (Moyvalley) and cottages all on the one site.

We are having a civil ceremony in the stone house (a beautiful building that will give the ceremony a traditional feel) For anyone who is interested in the religious side of things, there is also a tiny little chapel on the grounds where I'm sure you could get a blessing. (But we arent using this so you might check that with the wedding coordinator).

Balyna house has a main dining room, 2 smaller living rooms, a downstairs bar (which we are leaving a surprise for he guests after the meal) and 10 bedrooms.

Our full reception will be in Balyna House which is beautiful. You also have the choice of having the full reception in the hotel, or having drinks reception in house then meal in hotel.

I advise you to make an appointment to see it for yourself because the website doesnt give you the full picture.

Happy venue hunting!

Hi Mrsslatobe,

Had our wedding in Balyna house last september and cannot talk highly enough about the place. the food was brilliant and the service was fast and friendly. staff on the day were very professional and made people feel at ease.

In Balyna house there are two lounges and the entrance hall which comfortably catered for the 100 or so guests we had (we even closed off one room completely for our photos!).
We stayed in the house for the day (some people have the drinks reception in the house and go back to the hotel for meal). the bar downstairs was great for the session afterwards.

Was at Clonabreany then for a wedding since and found it very nice venue also. however it does suffer a little as there is limited rooms here and nearby are only b&b's which some guests found it difficult to get taxis for. Overall I thought Clonabreany was a very nice venue as well with high quality of service and food.

Both venues have a very good wow effect for your guests.

Hello Guys,

Thanks for your reply's, we have since booked Moyvalley. We are doing a weekend down there but its not till next November 2013, so have a long wait. We are doing it all in Ballyna House. We have 105 on our guest list, I imagine some wont go, but I hope it is big enough for us. We are very happy with them. Its very strange but Clonabreaney appeared perfect, but when we visited although it was beautiful we just didnt get that gut feeling about it, it just wasn't us.
